Out of reach/former/commited elsewhere recruits...

#1-Jahlil Okafor

#2-Tyus Jones

#6-Myles Turner

#7-Rashad Vaughn

#35-D'Angelo Russell

#40-Reid Travis

#41-Ja'Quan Newton

#51-Paul White

That's 8 names in the (almost) top 50 and I saw a couple other names that we were talking with at some point. 8 in the top 50! A notch or twenty better than our prior recruiting efforts. Eventually it will all pay off. Very encouraged.

Miles has a nose for ball players. How many guys now has he been one of the first in on and then all of a sudden are shooting up the rankings?

Josh cunningham was the only guy listed above that he was the first in on and now JC doesnt even list NU as having offered him.

True, but I'm pretty sure Miles was one of the first to offer Myles Turner.  Also, some of Nebraska's recruits might have had an offer or two when Nebraska came to the party, but there have been multiple cases where a recruit's offer list isn't overly impressive, but after Nebraska has been on them for awhile, they start to blow up with some impressive offers.  And hasn't only happened with high school players.  Most people weren't very impressed with Sai Tummala's offer list when Nebraska offered him, but he started to blow up towards the end of his recruitment.

That's what I was getting at. We've offered several that at the time of the NU offering had offers from Kennesaw State, Toledo, and Tennessee Tech. Then as soon as Miles joins the party, the high major offers start rolling in.

Myles Turner has been in the top 150 on Rivals for awhile.  Sure he moved up the list but to say he was unknown would be a farce.  Basketball recruiting is very different from football where the top schools only have 1-4 scholarships in a given year so they have to be very selective with whom they offer otherwise they could fill up extremely quick.  The top tier teams have the luxury that they can come in late to a guy that was maybe #120 and moves up to #30 and still have a shot with him.

Well, Turner was literally quoted as saying that Nebraska was the first, or one of his first (maybe first BCS school?) offer and that it means alot to him.  That is probably a big reason why Nebraska is still even listed as being in it with him at this point, even though he is getting interest from the blue bloods (like UCLA) now.

I think Cheatham and Gilmore are the most likely to sign here out of that group (not sure how "likely" that is, but definitely more likely than Turner, Cunningham, etc)

Yeah I agree.  Getting Turner would be an absolute coup for Nebraska and if it somehow happened, then the new basketball court should be named after Tim Miles.  Pinnacle Bank Arena, Tim Miles court.

It would be awesome but I'm not really planning on us being a serious threat for him.

Even landing Gilmore and/or Cheatham would be huge though, and I don't think it's completely out of the question.  Two top 150 players in the same class would be incredible.

I agree as well..I wouldn't complain with that class for 2014.

I love the offers...we are going after the class of the class...but, now we have to finish...a few of these studs need to fall our way.

This, you can only ask the pretty girl out so many times with no results.

It worked for Mississippi in football.  We just have to figure out how to land them on the straight and narrow.

Hell, go crooked for all I care.  Judging by what happened at Oregon for their football, um, indiscretions, I'd say the opportunity cost is well worth the risk.

Oh I agree, I just hate being the guy that takes the pretty girl to the dance only to have her go home with someone else.

well we can pretty much end that dream now.  Robin said Turner hasnt heard from Nebraska in awhile assuming they cant hang with the big boys.  Turner told Robin he still considers Nebraska but felt it was more or less just because Robin works for HOL and was pandering to him.
