Coach Miles Radio show with Michael Lewis subbing in for coach

Working while listening so notes will be sparce.

  • Introductions
  • Talked about the gameplan and execution vs Dayton
  • Talked through the UCLA game
  • Call from Drew - question about a different approach when a team like VT throws out a zone
  • Back to talking about UCLA
  • On to the Clemson game after the commercial, kind of
  • Back to the VT game. Our lack of offense sucked the gas out of our defense
  • Talked about Tai and Glynn
  • Talked about how to add the freshmen into the mix
  • Back to a bit about Clemson...no gameplan leaked here
  • Finished up

I think Miles energy is a boon for the process of program building but having a guy like Lewis here who is calm and collected adds a very nice balance to this staff.

KNTK - Early Break:  Nebrasketball squares off vs. Kansas tomorrow in Lawrence…do they stand any chance at all?

They can’t shoot well at home and haven’t shot well outside of games vs. UCLA and Dayton in Wooden Legacy CLassic…just don’t have a blowout loss is all we should hope for, right?

For those who are mad at Miles for his poor play consistently vs. Creighton, what do you say about his recent domination of Tom Izzo and Michigan State?

Miles on the B1G Teleconference - Here is the link to all the coaches

  • Talked about the tough schedule
  • Elaborated on the mental toughness he sees missing from some guys
  • Thinking over the starting lineup going forward
  • Hoped we would have 1-2 more wins at this point to be on track to make the NCAA
  • Some guys on schedule, some guys behind on where he hoped they would be
  • Talked about his history with twitter

Coach sounds a little stuffy today.  I think there's a bug going around the team...

Listened to this segment with Nick Bahe and I really agree with his thought here. I really think NU has the personnel to play that way.

I think you forgot to post the link. But I know what you're talking about cuz I listened to it too and agree. Here it is:

Mike'l Severe had a similar tweet yesterday about the offensive stats, and I can kind of forgive his ignorance...  But when Bahe does it, then you know he's just trollin'.

(why don't they talk about the fact we've played by far the most difficult schedule in the B1G?  Or that we are one of the youngest teams in the league?)

Strength of Schedule
Components: 110.8 4 98.8 17 103.3
Overall: +11.98 7 0.00
Non-conference: +11.98 7 0.00
Personnel
Bench Minutes: 27.5% 288 32.4%
Experience: 1.37 yrs 287 1.71
Minutes Continuity: 49.8% 187 49.6%
Average Height: 77.5" 85 76.8"

I didn't forget, it just must not have worked when I tried it. Thanks for picking up the slack.

There's been plenty of conversation about that. Given how the lineups put together and who they've got playing regularly, I think it would be something that would work well with what is on the roster. I've thought that for a while, actually. You've got guys like Watson and Webster who are really good in transition. I think Taylor and Gill are, too. Those four leading the press with Morrow, Roby and Jordy right behind would be a pretty good situation. I think it might even open things up for McVeigh and Jacobson.
