Just got home from work, and on my way home the left on Highway 2 heading eastbound was blocked due to a car accident. When I got closer and drove by Coach Smith and Terran Petteway were standing there with two other guys I didn't recognize.

Now I have absolutely no definitive information, and don't know if either Smith or Petteway were even involved. I do know that when I passed them, Petteway had his hands on the top of his head and a stressed/confused/distraught look on his face. Again, not trying to insinuate anyone's involvement. Just stating what I saw.

We may or may not hear something as the evening progresses.

Going by your post, MidwestDrummer, I took a quick look at the LPD website to try to find a call matching your description.  Closest I could find was:

06-04-2013  1734  B3-048570  20TH ST / 2 HWY ;  ACC. PR.DAM.

That was at 5:34.  There were a couple other calls on Highway 2, one was at 9am today and two others at 7:45 and 8pm.

I'm not 100% certain what the abbreviations mean (obviously "accident" and "damage", but not sure what "PR" is).  Good news is there didn't appear to be anyone hurt going by the little I could decipher from the LPD call list...those calls include the code "INJURY"....so, fingers crossed, everyone is okay.

Thanks for the update.

I hate doing this, but since it is a public record, here ya go.

...and may I add, this does happen and it does not make him a bad guy.  He allegedly made a mistake...and mistakes happen.  I hope everyone is okay both mentally and physically.

You're absolutely right. I don't see this as a serious offense, and there's virtually no chance of any punishment. Let it be a learning experience for him. I just hope he had insurance. Way too many people take a chance and drive without it, and it really bites you in the ass if you get in any kind of accident without it.

Yeah, it sucks.  Accidents are never fun.  Fortunately though, it doesn't appear anyone was hurt.  That was my main worry...

Yeah, I'm glad no one was hurt, too.

But my first thought was please tell me he wasn't drinking.  They don't suspend you for fender benders.  They only suspend you for the bender before you hit the fender.

Judging by what we've heard about Petteway, I would have found it very difficult to believe that alcohol would have been involved at that time of day.  HWY 2 is busy around that time, probably was texting or something and swerved and corrected.  Sounds like that's probably about what it is.
