Norm Peterson Posted August 28, 2013 Report Posted August 28, 2013 Based on what has been said about Gilmore, how can anyone say he wouldn't fit that kind of role? He's a 4-star player on a team with multiple (?) 5-star players who get the glory. It was posted somewhere how unselfish he is. He doesn't get to be THE MAN on his AAU team but he still digs in and does his job. So maybe Gilmore is that type of player, too. I don't know. What I do know is that I don't know the internal workings of our hoops recruiting and whether we softened on Gilmore or Gilmore on us or whether we're still in the thick of it with him. What I know is that I just don't know. idk either im just speaking in grand assumptions.. which loosely based on information ive read from this bored and a few sites. for whatever reason we are hosting Smith and Wacker this weekend and i wouldnt be shocked if smith or wacker commit. id be shocked if both did or both had commtitable offers. Maybe Gilmore commits this upcoming few weekends to Creighton and this convo is moot (who am i kidding that will only amplifly the conversation) I don't disagree with you about our apparent interest, Bobcat. I just find it curious. And like I said, what I know for sure is that I don't know anything about the whys and wherefores of the inside workings of our basketball recruiting efforts. But it appears that, for whatever reason, Gilmore is no longer in the cards and I don't understand that. Just sayin'.
The Coach Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 Maybe the recent interest from Elbert Robinson is what caused us to cool on Gilmore Or maybe our chances with Jonah Bolden are better than I thought bobcat402, Norm Peterson and hhcmatt 3

Norm Peterson Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 Yeah, you're right. Gilmore probably cooled on us, and then, serendipitously, out of nowhere, we get this official visit from a guy 27 spots higher in the Rivals rankings who also happens to fall into a greater position of need. bobcat402 1
colhusker Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 As was stated above, he cooled, we cooled, everyone cooled, who cares to some degree, what fun to have so many good options to discuss. Something sorely lacking for a long long time. Silverbacked1, bobcat402 and Norm Peterson 3

lanigan123 Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 My guess is we like guys like bolden and Elbert better, depending on how that shakes out Leon would get a call I'd say those two guys are our priority. hhcmatt 1
Norm Peterson Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ii-GFB-8v8&feature=player_embedded I just wanna say, having re-watched this highlight tape, that it may be the worst highlight tape for a highly-ranked player that I've ever seen. And that's NOT because of the player but entirely because of the people who put the tape together. The clips are too short and mostly show just a snippet of the outcome of the play (generally Leon getting a dunk) but don't give you any idea of what he did to make the play happen. There are a few more extended clips but too much of it is just the very end of the play where Leon gets a dunk here or Leon gets a dunk there. And then, strangely, it'll show more extended clips of Leon running back down the floor AFTER the play. Which is bad because this is a summer camp thing and they all look pretty lethargic running back down the floor. Why would you show that?
uneblinstu Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 He's made his decision. Do any of you care at this point?
ShortDust Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 Wow, guess that's what happens when schools give up on him. Best of luck to him in every game but one.
Silverbacked1 Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 Well we will to see what could have been or happy it wasn't us, for the next 4 years. hhcmatt 1
hhcmatt Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 Well we will to see what could have been or happy it wasn't us, for the next 4 years. That was definitely my thoughts and obviously given his rating he's someone likely to make us regret it. Not sure if Nebraska wasn't his thing or if we slow played since we're all in on Centers or PFs. It's a good get for the boys in blue. P.S. Saw some DoubleJ replies to a McKewon tweet about this. What an awful human. Silverbacked1 1

kldm64 Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 Dang it!!! I think this kid wanted to come to NU instead but we never had him come for official visit (which he wanted to have). Good pickup for Creighton. I sure hope us backing off this kid means there are better choices to come for NU.
Norm Peterson Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 I kinda figured it was headed this way when his mom opened up an account on the bluejay board and talked up her visit to Creighton. Seems like a nice kid. I hope he does well there. I actually do. I will be pulling for him. 49r 1

bobcat402 Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 once hammond commited, and now we are going heavy after ER, this was obvious, seems like a nice kid, just not the fit we need at this time. good luck at CU
Hooper Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 Yeah, I had Leon way down our priority list. We weren't recruiting him that hard over the past two months, and if we really wanted him, we would have had him in for an official visit. Good luck to him at Creighton. I just hope he's mentally prepared to go 0-4 during his career against the Huskers.
Cousin Mose Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 Perspective sure is an interesting thing. Creighton fans will tell you the Jays passed on Fuller, but I'm 100% sure you all would disagree. In the end you won't really know until their four/five years are up who was a hit and who was a miss, but by then everyone has forgotten. Anyway, good luck the rest of the way, Jays are really excited to have him. Silverbacked1 1

Fact is, neither of us know, but it sure is nice to pretend like we do now isn't it.
George Beadle Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 This seems pretty big for Creighton. Their recruiting was lagging behind nearly all of the other Big East members. I hope he enjoys his time there, that he finds individual success, but that his team struggles horribly. Silverbacked1, Hooper, hhcmatt and 1 other 4
