Based on what has been said about Gilmore, how can anyone say he wouldn't fit that kind of role?  He's a 4-star player on a team with multiple (?) 5-star players who get the glory.  It was posted somewhere how unselfish he is.  He doesn't get to be THE MAN on his AAU team but he still digs in and does his job.  So maybe Gilmore is that type of player, too.  I don't know.

What I do know is that I don't know the internal workings of our hoops recruiting and whether we softened on Gilmore or Gilmore on us or whether we're still in the thick of it with him.  What I know is that I just don't know.

idk either im just speaking in grand assumptions.. which loosely based on information ive read from this bored and a few sites. for whatever reason we are hosting Smith and Wacker this weekend and i wouldnt be shocked if smith or wacker commit. id be shocked if both did or both had commtitable offers. Maybe Gilmore commits this upcoming few weekends to Creighton and this convo is moot (who am i kidding that will only amplifly the conversation)

I don't disagree with you about our apparent interest, Bobcat.  I just find it curious.  And like I said, what I know for sure is that I don't know anything about the whys and wherefores of the inside workings of our basketball recruiting efforts.  But it appears that, for whatever reason, Gilmore is no longer in the cards and I don't understand that.  Just sayin'.

You're assuming we cooled on him and not vice versa

you have you way of seeing things, i have mine...we offered a top 150 guy...he committed when offered a top 150 guy than cooled to either go after a potential dominating big or we pick up a game changing forginer or two talented athletic 4's who can bang inside...am i optimistic that gilmore becomes apart of our program? yea but not ahead of guy like Robinson or Bolden who i feel we have a moderate chance at....these are happy times.. 3 years ago this discussion isnt happening.

I just wanna say, having re-watched this highlight tape, that it may be the worst highlight tape for a highly-ranked player that I've ever seen.  And that's NOT because of the player but entirely because of the people who put the tape together.  The clips are too short and mostly show just a snippet of the outcome of the play (generally Leon getting a dunk) but don't give you any idea of what he did to make the play happen. There are a few more extended clips but too much of it is just the very end of the play where Leon gets a dunk here or Leon gets a dunk there.

And then, strangely, it'll show more extended clips of Leon running back down the floor AFTER the play.  Which is bad because this is a summer camp thing and they all look pretty lethargic running back down the floor.  Why would you show that?

Well we will to see what could have been or happy it wasn't us, for the next 4 years.

That was definitely my thoughts and obviously given his rating he's someone likely to make us regret it.

Not sure if Nebraska wasn't his thing or if we slow played since we're all in on Centers or PFs.

It's a good get for the boys in blue.

P.S. Saw some DoubleJ replies to a McKewon tweet about this.  What an awful human.

You're talking about DoubleJ, right?  ;)

Dang it!!!  I think this kid wanted to come to NU instead but we never had him come for official visit (which he wanted to have).  Good pickup for Creighton.  I sure hope us backing off this kid means there are better choices to come for NU.

I think so.  I think that is exactly what that means.

Yeah, I had Leon way down our priority list. We weren't recruiting him that hard over the past two months, and if we really wanted him, we would have had him in for an official visit. Good luck to him at Creighton. I just hope he's mentally prepared to go 0-4 during his career against the Huskers.

Perspective sure is an interesting thing.  Creighton fans will tell you the Jays passed on Fuller, but I'm 100% sure you all would disagree.  In the end you won't really know until their four/five years are up who was a hit and who was a miss, but by then everyone has forgotten.  Anyway, good luck the rest of the way, Jays are really excited to have him.

Of course they will.

And Husker fans will tell me that Gilmore would have committed had he been offered. Fact is, neither of us know, but it sure is nice to pretend like we do now isn't it.
