Huskerpapa Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 Jason Aldean coming to Pinnacle Bank Arena The concert will be the second show at the new arena. A Sept. 13 act will open it but won't be named until next month. Apr 12, 2013 | 7:35 am Quote
Norm Peterson Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 Well, that should make some people around here happy. And probably others not so happy. Oh well. First time I'm inside there, it'll probably be for whoever's playing Nebraska. Red Rum 1 Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 This sucks!!! No it doesn't it is great. There got those two out of the way. Quote
jimmykc Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 First concert is booked but not announced. Anyone care to scoop everyone else and break the news on HHS first? My choice is Madonna. Second option is Danny Manning. Norm Peterson 1 Quote
Red Rum Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 I know who it is......but I can't share it with you guys on such a public forum (Neil Diamond) Nebrasketballer 1 Quote
Norm Peterson Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 I actually might go to Niel Diamond. Hopefully he plays the 3-4 songs of his that I like first so I can get to the parking lot to beat the traffic. Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 Just a hunch but I think it is going to be Larry the Cable Guy. Would pack the place, is local, and will either use the money for his foundation or something like he did when he played here a couple of years ago. However I don't think that the place will be done by the 4th of July. Quote

cipsucks Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 I know who it is......but I can't share it with you guys on such a public forum (Neil Diamond) I think I've shared this before. Mrs cip and I went to Neil Diamond in the early 90's at the Civic Aud in Omaha. He was really good. Speaking of Omaha, we're sponsoring a BBQ contest tomorrow at Helping U Barbeque, 157th and West Dodge. We'll be cooking burgers, dogs and brisket from 11 to 3. There's a beer tent there also. I pulled some strings and made sure we're set up right next to them. If you're in the area, stop on by! Quote
Norm Peterson Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 Most folks will recognize this as a cut by Urge Overkill from the "Pulp Fiction" soundtrack. But Neil Diamond did it first. Quote
cipsucks Posted April 13, 2013 Report Posted April 13, 2013 i always thought Saving Silverbacked was pretty entertaining.... Quote

Norm Peterson Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 Michael Buble's website lists him playing Pinnacle Bank Arena on Sept. 13th. Wow! So THIS is what we've all been waiting for, huh? Build a 220 million dollar arena so we can finally pack the house with acts like Michael Bubble. When you can swing an act like Michael Bubble, it's a sign your town has arrived. (It used to be having a Wal-mart was the sign your town had arrived. My how times have changed, huh?) Quote
Huskerpapa Posted May 2, 2013 Author Report Posted May 2, 2013 Man, I am out of touch, I do not even know who Michael Bubble is... http://journalstar.com/entertainment/music/michael-bubl-to-open-pinnacle-bank-arena/article_81b76aed-0e17-5463-8e80-8d0010df29f1.html Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 He is kind of a 2000's Sinatra. Has a really good voice I don't think I will be going. You now see that my predictions are really bad and wayyyyyyyy off. Quote

Yet, I've had numerous requests for tickets, so others must know about him. 2 of the 3 acts I hadn't heard of = dinosaur. Quote
hhcmatt Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 He's sort of a big deal so it's not surprising he's the opener....he just doesn't slot into this particular crowd. Quote
#GATA Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 He's good, and he will draw a very large crowd. I see why they picked him. There will be a wide range of ages that can/will attend his show. You're not going to get an 80 year old lady out to see PINK or Jason Aldean. However, Buble will attract this age group and a lot of other ages as well. Quote
Handy Johnson Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 Jason Aldean reminds me of a story about Toby Keith (since they're both "new" country artists). At Willie Nelson's 70th Birthday party, Keith was backstage with Kristopherson and said, " None of that lefty s**t out there tonight Kris". Kristopherson, a former Rhodes Scholar& Airborne Ranger, said " What the F did you say to me boy"? Kris then said, " Waylon had a line about guys like you, You've done to Country music what panty hose did to finger fu**in'". tcp 1 Quote

Considering that as well as playing PBA he is also playing the United Center, Sprint Center, XCEL Center, Scottrade, Palace of Auburn Hills, TD Garden, Barclays Center, Key Arena, Rose Garden, and the MGM Grand, I'd say it's a pretty damn good get for our arena. I know for a fact you're an Engelbert Humperdinck fan. Standhardinger used to hum this song during pregame warmups..... 49r 1 Quote
