We would lose unless we really improved and played the game in January or later.

It's probably a little early to be saying if we will win or lose a game.  No one knows how this team will be next year or what we will look like.

I know exactly how they will be when they open the season: not used to playing with each other.

Say what you want, but it takes time to learn how to play together.

Would this merit a return trip next year?

New Mexico was a pretty young team this year, I believe they return their top 6 scorers and only graduate 2 players.  I guess they could see some attrition because of the coaching change, but I believe they hired Craig Neal to prevent this.  Basically, we'd be playing a top 10-15 team on the road and it probably wouldn't be pretty with all of our new parts.  Regardless of the outcome, though, it would be an exciting match up and I'd love to see it happen.  Would be a big non conference grab for us

New Mexico will have a new coach.  Who really cares if it's a game that on paper will be a one-sided game.  Good to have a game like that, especially if it's in December, see how good we really are before heading into conference play.  Can't be afraid to play games like that.  I'm pretty sure Miles isn't.  Bring 'em on.

Seems like a pretty one sided conversation

True, but even if the game is already scheduled, I really doubt that Miles is going to comment on twitter before the AD publicly announces it or tells Miles he can tweet about it.

There are so many things about twitter I don't get, that is so damn hard for me to understand.

Andrew Schaller asked Coach Miles what he thought Iverson being named an All-American.

Miles responded (or to use the Twitter vernacular, he quote RT'd) with "Awesome!!"

TimmyMac then jumped in and mentioned the rumors he'd heard about NU playing at UNM.

LoboSteve then basically said, "Wait, what?"

Yeah, I didn't embed the whole conversation, but there was talk about Iverson and what did Coach Miles think of the Lobos' hire after Alford and whatnot...

I just found the part about a couple New Mexico guys mentioning rumors of a potential for future UNM/NU matchups interesting.

Random question, but related to non conference: Does the ACC/Big Ten Challenge cyle teams through so that evetually everybody plays everybody?  Will we eventually get to play North Carolina, Duke, Syracuse, etc.?

They try to make the match ups even, so that is unlikely unless we are ranked near those teams in the pre season

Only if we get really good...

No they do match ups based on making even match ups.  That's why Nebraska has played Wake Forrest because they were one of the worst teams in the ACC.

The only way Nebraska will play UNC, Duke or Syracuse is if the Huskers get better.  Those schools will always face MSU, Mich, Indiana, and Ohio State.

Although if UNC joins the Big 10, then they'll play them in Lincoln someday.

Both Wake Forest and Nebraska finished 10th in their respective leagues this year - but since we just played them the last two years, I'd be surprised to see us matched up with them next year.

Best guess would be Boston College, Georgia Tech, Clemson or Virginia Tech.
