tcp Posted March 30, 2013 Report Posted March 30, 2013 This sucks. Losing a recruiting battle to Auburn for a guy who maintained we were his number 1 for some time. Sigh. The beat goes on for NU. Quote
hskr4life Posted March 30, 2013 Report Posted March 30, 2013 I would honestly love to know how much of this was his decision. Hooper had said that a mentor changes everything, and I believed he would be N by the way he acted and talked.... I can not believe he went to Auburn. I have a feeling there may be more to the story than him going where he thinks is best. Quote
hhcmatt Posted March 30, 2013 Report Posted March 30, 2013 This is why you recruit 3 or more guys for two spots BannedAccount 1 Quote

Handy Johnson Posted March 30, 2013 Report Posted March 30, 2013 Certainly a loss, but there's no time to pout. Let's roll up our sleeves and get that Big we so richly deserve. And yes, when it comes to the SEC and recruiting, I only assume the worst. Quote

Not that he deserves nor should receive such tweets but if you want to spend your time getting attention from different fan bases you usually get what you wish for. Quote
tcp Posted March 30, 2013 Author Report Posted March 30, 2013 This is why you recruit 3 or more guys for two spots true, but this isn't exactly "meh", either, Dimes. Especially if we drop another big. And we lost---to Auburn. Quote
KearneyMan Posted March 30, 2013 Report Posted March 30, 2013 Ok people I can't believe you are all freaking out!! I knew he wasn't coming here. I don't blame Miles for this, our administration was bad long before he got here. When Miles got here he already started in a sinkhole. We need to clean house of all basketball administration. greymonkey and Nebrasketballer 2 Quote

Huskerpapa Posted March 30, 2013 Report Posted March 30, 2013 ...we move on. How about bringing home a athletic four or five star instead. Quote

trickey Posted March 30, 2013 Report Posted March 30, 2013 We need a graduate student from a (mid-major?) school who would like to leave so he can play a year in a major conference to prove his worth. Works for next year and keeps open a spot in the 2014 class...The 2014 class will be the first that Miles will have had enough time with to make a fair run at quality big talent, although you would prefer to be in by their sophomore year.. We are almost asking the impossible to expect a coaching staff to get a quality big man with only a year or less to recruit before signing. By the time Miles was hired, most big men were cutting their lists...not searching. That will not be true if there are any quality grad transfers to get. So the staff should now be GATAs. Quote
Husker4Life Posted March 30, 2013 Report Posted March 30, 2013 I just got home from the Sunrise Christian Academy vs Prime Prep from Dallas Texas game. Prime Prep is rated 2nd in the nation and was undefeated. Sunrise has lost only one game and that to Prime Prep. Sunrise won by 10. Kruger from Oklahoma, Calipari from Kentucky and coaches from Kansas, Texas A & M, and Memphis were there. It was the best high school game I have ever seen and I have seen many. I saw no one from Nebraska there but I could have missed them. There was a lot of D1 talent on the floor for both teams. I wish the Nebraska staff would show more interest since it is so close. Buddy Hield was there since he played with a lot of the Sunrise players. I never was that impressed with Atewe. I know a lot of you thought he was something great but I can't say whether he could even shoot the ball. Any scoring he did was very near the basket and even big men now a days must be able to shoot from 15 feet. He was not even a starter for his high school and Notre Dame Prep was not ever in the ratings and last I checked were barely even, records wise. Just because you can run from one end of the court to the other doesn't in itself make you a great basketball player so, needless to say, I am almost happy he chose Auburn. Good luck to him but lets move on. We do not need projects that take two or more years to develop, if they ever do. Quote
Milk Posted March 30, 2013 Report Posted March 30, 2013 What is the alternative than? There isn't an abundance of big men even left available for this year's class. I don't understand this de-legitimatizing of players. I remember some on here even said Agau wasn't very good after he committed to Louisville. Quote
Cybrrmonky Posted March 30, 2013 Report Posted March 30, 2013 I as well think this guy was built up to be much better than he is. Still concerning Miles is having trouble getting any big guys with a pulse to show much interest. Smith is an ok backup plan, but we really need another solid big man for next year. If we need to go the JUCO route so be it. Odd we can't get one, b/c immediate playing time is available. Quote

We can only hope in the end that it leads to signing a guy who can help us as much or more when it's all said and done. Quote
ajb5856 Posted March 30, 2013 Report Posted March 30, 2013 Zach Hanson, Akoy Agau, Vitto Brown...now Atewe. I feel bad for Miles and staff. Just can't land a big. Before I dropped him, I was looking at all the congratulatory tweets as well as all of the classless tweets to Atewe by some Husker fans. One of Atewe's friends congratulated him for his commitment to Auburn. Atewe responded to that tweet by saying thanks even though you've known for over a year. I don't know what that means and I'm done trying to translate tweets but I sure hope Miles and his staff weren't played into wasted efforts in the recruitment of Atewe. We move on. Frustrating to say the least. hhcmatt 1 Quote
BjoeHusker Posted March 30, 2013 Report Posted March 30, 2013 We are currently Leslee Smith's first choice (6'8", 250) JUCO PF. Also looking at Sai Tummala (6'7", 215) JUCO Forward. While we desperately need a HS PF, at least we didn't put all our marbles in Atewe. Quote
