Since my OP evidently missed the mark, let's try this.

Here is a list of Nebraska high school kids who will be playing in the 2013 NCAA tourney:

2012  Mike Gesell, Iowa1

2010  Elliott Eliason, Minnesota

2009  Greg Smith, Colorado State1

2008  Wes Eikmeier, Colorado State1

1  Denotes starter on an NCAA tourney-bound team.

In what planet is Iowa making the NCAA tournament?

Dimes is gonna make me eat my words if it doesn't pan out.  ;)   I'm gonna confess the last time I checked, they had an rpi in the 40s and, with 20 wins including a .500 record (9 wins) in the toughest basketball league in the country, I was expecting them to be a shoe-in.

I more recently looked and see that they're in the 70s, depending upon which service you look at, which makes them significantly less likely to get there, but still.  Twenty wins overall and 9 wins in conference?  If they beat Northwestern, which is very probable, how do you keep them out?

Their non-conference SOS is 337.  Too many cupcakes.  They also played the worst teams in the conference twice (Penn St, Northwestern, and Nebraska)

I think they need to win two games in the tourney.  Considering they are ranked as the #1 seed for most NIT brackets, they certainly have a chance.

When they are in the NIT, they have the blown 19 point lead at Nebraska to thank for it.

When Eikmeier left Iowa State, he said he was transfering because he wasn't physical enough to play in the Big 12, and he was right.  CSU was a good place for him.

Doc spent a lot of time in Chadron trying to get Eliason, but hell he weighed 185 pounds, I would have never guessed he would have been able to put on as much weight as he has.  It was either him or Andre for that scholarship and they had the same stats, Andre against men in JUCO, and Eliason against C-1 kids in the furthest west district in the state.  Andre has played some good games for us since he's been here.  I'll think we'll miss him a lot next year.

A non-con SOS of 337?!?!  Sheesh, there are only 347 or so teams!  Hard to imagine Iowa is going to get much benefit of the doubt when only 10 teams in all of college basketball put together a worse noncon SOS.

A Northwestern win wouldn't seemingly give them much of a bump to their RPI, so I'd say they need AT LEAST two wins in the conference tourney (and even that may not be enough).  K State, Colorado and a Florida school (perhaps FSU?) have been left out in recent years due to weak nonson SOS, but I don't even think theirs were 337 bad.

He's only had about 3 of those games this year, though.  For most of the year, he seemed to be a total non-factor.

Non-conference RPI is bad...but IMO..Iowa should be in.   .500 conference record and 20 wins in what is BY FAR the best conference in America is good enough for me.  They win 2 in the conference tourney and they should be a lock.

I definitely understand the need for locking down the top instate talent; however, that does not necessarily mean signing the highest rate players in the state.  Why not set aside a preferred instate walkon spot for at least one player a year?  I am a bit surprised that not one Nebraska high school player, at least to my knowledge, have been identified (granted such information may not be public knowledge).

Wow nustudent...a true kiss of death..."They win 2 in the conference tourney and they should be a lock."...since they are going to lose to Michigan State tomorrow...I have to assume since they needed 2 wins here to be in they will be OUT.

Since I hate iowa...I can revel in that thought process.

I think they should be in regardless.   But if they beat MSU today....they will be in.

Don't think you can call Matt Hill a failure at the BCS level.  Didn't he have a couple of injuries that put him behind and then got over recruited?  If I remember right, he was getting some good minutes before the injury.

I think he was a better player than Elliason but never really got the chance to show it.

I think you can.  He was bad...even when healthy.

Remember when Almeida and Diaz impregnated him in our upset win over Texas.  Anyone who makes Diaz look physical isn't very good.

I was lifting weight at Madonna one day and Hill was up lifting too.

He was only lifting very light weights, I mean very light weights.

At first I thought it was for him to do light weights with high numbers of reps.

But no, he was just not very strong.

At least he didn't seem to have the strength that a BCS school center would seem to need.
