I think it’s fair to say our NIL needs to get better.   But if we have enough to give Berke and Meah over a million last year, NIL is secondary to decision making in terms of issues

I do not disagree. But they're at the level of 1a & 1b for me.

I get paying for players.   Having average (at best) NIL will

always put a ceiling on what we do.

but making bad decisions doesn’t give us a chance.

All these big name coaches probably wouldn’t give Nebraska a 2nd look.  What might have happened if Bob Devaney hired Bob Huggins instead of Danny Née?  Coaches are better with talent.  If Nebraska cares enough we need to help Fred get better players, whatever the cost.

I could argue that Danny brought some terrific talent, and had is right on the edge.  What coulda and shoulda happen, didn't.

That said, Huggy can coach.

University has bigger fish to fry. Need football at be good again. Volleyball to stay the top of nation. Baseball might need a new coach barring a complete turn around. Basketball is on the back burner and always will be.

Basketball is a bigger money maker than both volleyball and baseball.  I can get the investment in volleyball due to their level of success. But we should absolutely be committing more money to basketball than we are to baseball.   I’d also argue that Bolt is safer than Hoiberg at this stage.

Agreed. Idk about Bolt. They do have time to turn it around but man when’s the last time a men’s program actually held up to preseason expectations?

I’ll add for basketball it doesn’t help that your Omaha boosters give to football but give to Creighton for basketball.

I mean, didn’t Bolt win the Big Ten (conference or tournament) each of the last two years

if Nebraska basketball could ever put out some sort of proven winner or have some consistent success, it’d be curious to see how much of that money would switch back over.   People don’t like making bad investments.

Nebraska won’t take it all back from Creighton.   But I can guarantee that Nebraska strings together to, three or four straight NCAA tournament bits… Then there will absolutely be some extra money coming in from Omaha.

It would hilarious if NU started to funnel some of that Omaha football money into the basketball program.

Saw him speak at a clinic. Condescending, everyone that asked a question was treated like an idiot. Pissed Nike scheduled him too late to catch a plane out of Portland and had to spend the night. Came into the hotel bar and wouldn’t talk to anyone who didn’t buy him a beer first. masochist kept buying him drinks and he’s even meaner drunk.

I would never have guessed that by his on court demeanour.

That boorish behavior got him fired as well.
