Fastbreaker Posted February 13 Report Posted February 13 Lets see. Short turnaround, on the road, hangover from one of the greatest win in team history, playing one of the hottest teams in the country who will press us from the opening tip. If we keep it below 20 point loss I will be happy. What do the rest of you think? Bugeaters1 and whoopdeedoo 2 Quote
HUD Posted February 13 Report Posted February 13 Probably won't be close. Just play well and don't get anybody hurt. A loss unless it is a bad one won't hurt our net much if at all. The next four games after this game are all winnable. A four seed in the conf. tournament with a win would look pretty good. A 7 seed in the Big Dance would be a possibility. Especially with a second win over Mich. St. mwm89 and whoopdeedoo 1 1 Quote
Huskerfanzzz Posted February 13 Report Posted February 13 I'm concerned about not having White for this game. Jacy Sheldon is a quick, explosive guard who leads the Big 10 in steals. I read that she was on "restricted minutes" during the Iowa game, so I'm assuming it will be the same tomorrow. Ohio State forced 18 first half turnovers against UConn with their press. We definitely need our best ball handlers for this one. mwm89 1 Quote

These last 5 games are huge....simply huge. The best position we've been in years, going into the tournament's Cazzie22 and mwm89 1 1 Quote
hskr4life Posted February 14 Report Posted February 14 (edited) This game is really kind of a “playing with house money” situation. Especially with the Iowa win. We got our big win and they shouldn’t feel much pressure. We’re now solidly inside the bubble. Hopefully that means they come out and just play loose. No pressure situations sometimes allow a team to just out and play, not think about things, and just have some fun. I think that’s why you see a lot of upsets in early March conference games and early rounds of conference tournaments. Most of the time, teams playing on Day 1 and Day 2 have no pressure. But I think the women will show up with the right mindset at least. GBR!! Quote
HUD Posted February 14 Report Posted February 14 I know that Alexis, Jaz and Natalie are consistent enough to have good games. I am more interested in how Logan N, Kendall M. and an injured Darian W. do. Also can Callin H. contribute? Montana_85 F 1 Quote
throwback Posted February 14 Report Posted February 14 Playing with house money tonight. Tall, tall order to bounce back after the emotion of Sunday. No matter what happens tonight, just win the last 4 and get the double bye. mwm89 and HUD 1 1 Quote
All About the Corn Posted February 14 Report Posted February 14 So will not do Peacock tonight. Will be listening to the call from Matt/Jeff. Wonder if we get a Jaz, Natalie, Alexis, Kendall M, and Logan group on the floor again tonight? Bugeaters1 1 Quote
Red Don Posted February 14 Report Posted February 14 No one's posted the game details yet, so here goes: Nebraska Cornhuskers (16-8, 8-5 Big Ten) AT #2 Ohio State Buckeyes (21-3, 12-1 Big Ten) Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2024, 6 p.m. (CT) TV/Stream: Peacock - Sloane Martin and Kim Adams on the call. Huskerfanzzz Posted February 15 Report Posted February 15 8 turnovers caused by their press before they bring White back in. Lex is also struggling again. Come on Huskers! Get tough. Quote
Red Don Posted February 15 Report Posted February 15 Stats at the end of 1Q of Play: Pretty even game early, Both teams missing a lot of shots/bunnies (roll around the rim and off), until OSU started making theirs in the last 3 mins. Cazzie22 1 Quote
Cazzie22 Posted February 15 Report Posted February 15 We cannot handle the press when Jaz is not on the court. mwm89 1 Quote
Red Don Posted February 15 Report Posted February 15 Halftime Stats: 19-33 Ohio State Defense is aggressive/stifling! Quote
Cazzie22 Posted February 15 Report Posted February 15 33 points is decent defense but it could be that we are taking nearly the entire shot clock to get up a shot, usually contested, when we don’t turn the ball over. Our lack of speed and quickness seems to be an issue. Quote
Fastbreaker Posted February 15 Report Posted February 15 Beginning to think that OSU could give USC a run for their money. Quote
Huskerfanzzz Posted February 15 Report Posted February 15 Every single player on Ohio state is athletic and fast. We can’t compete with that. At this point, I’d be happy if we could set up the offense and get more than one chance at scoring. Ugly. Quote
Red Don Posted February 15 Report Posted February 15 Ohio State putting on a "How-to" Clinic! Quick 7 points off of turnovers & steals. They are athletic and not adverse to taking chances. Their defense is smothering, a lot of reach-in fouls that are not being called (I think they are so aggressive the refs are just letting them play) Four minutes into the 3rd Qtr before we get our first score - they've scored 14 pts. mwm89 1 Quote
Cazzie22 Posted February 15 Report Posted February 15 Whoa! Glad I am not watching this debacle. Matt and Jeff keep praising the OSU defensive pressure but are not critical of our ball handling or passing. Don’t we practice against pressure. How can you be an NCAA team getting manhandled like this? mwm89 1 Quote
