There is a way that could work.  Unconventional, but Wilt used it.

When my dad coached high school basketball in Kansas (somewhat successfully), in the late 50's and early 60's he made all of his players shoot their free throws underhanded (slop bucket-style). All of his teams also wore knee sox (to improve their peripheral vision).
