be interesting if this will make any effect on whether Biggs redshirts or not. Yes you dont expect much from a walk-on but the kid has some seasoning to his game and could provide some minutes off the bench to a team that will struggle but build for the future.

Just for fun, I checked his stats out. He averaged over 6 assists last year. And about that many points. But there were a couple of high-scoring guys on his team and he didn't need to handle much of that load. Plus, it appears he's good at penetrating, drawing the defender and dishing to his big man underneath. That's an asset. Don't know if his quicks will translate to the next level but he seems to have reasonable handles, good vision spotting some of those passes, and just a general feel for where to be. Doug Gottlieb from OSU had that kind of sense from a few years back of just where to be so that the defender couldn't cover the passing lane.

The kid has sort of a strange left-handed stroke but he shot a decent percent from outside (40%). Not great at the stripe, though, only averaging about 66% from there. Like a PG to be better than that. But his assist numbers are outstanding. And he did that on a very good juco team. So, IMO, this is a good pick up. If nothing else, he'll make our starters better by doing a credible job running the scout team. Not sure why he's available to walk on, though. What's going on there? And is he eligible for this year? Or will be eligible at semester break? Anyone know?

Here's a story on him: http://www.starherald.com/sports/local_sports/wncc-alliance-standout-to-play-basketball-in-florida/article_d2f1db90-b117-11e1-b32d-001a4bcf887a.html

Apparently, he was headed to an NAIA school in Miami, Fla after finishing up juco last year. He had offers to walk on here and at Creighton but chose the scholarship route at first. That obviously changed somehow. Not sure how that affects his eligibility.

He's academically in good shape. He had a 3.83 GPA, which was the highest of any male athlete at the school, so he's in good shape in the classroom. And he's from Alliance. So ... winning the locker room, anyone?

Looks a lot more polished then the typical walk-on we get. Seems to have a nice stroke and isn't afraid to drive the lane. Likes to share the ball. I think this is a great pick-up for the Huskers.

Robin Washut said after watching the first practice he was very impressed with Peltz and said he made some good plays. Exceeded his expectations from what he thought he might see going in apparently.

I think that we will see that Coach Miles (and many motion offenses) are guard oriented. So we certainly need bigs...hopefully fairly athletic bigs, but we need a higher number of guard types. I would love to see us go after bigs like Mikki, Chandler, Ffriend, Hamilton, etc.

Would love a few bigs like the guys you mentioned.

They're all in their mid-30s. If they have any kids they're raising into basketball, why not get the next generation lined up for the program ;)
