hhcmatt Posted December 14, 2016 Report Posted December 14, 2016 Kansas level FT shooting team. Only a couple of guys on the team you'd consistently trust to make 2 in a row. **JORDY POSSIBLY STARTS THIS GAME ALERT** While they have a couple of guys with some girth GW has only 1 guy who is Jordy's size. L'Hassane Niangane is a 6'10" offensively challenged rim protector who starts for GW but doesn't play a ton of minutes. He also was raised in France so Jordy and him can converse in multiple languages. KenPom things to notice This is a fast team that is trying to drive at you on offense and trying to force turnovers on defense. Thus it's the type of team that will crash the offensive boards but will give you second chance opportunities on offense. They will hit from outside at a decent rate when forced to run offense so it's not simply a matter of killing their transition offense. A lot of hay to be made by penetrating past their steals focused guards at both the rim and FT line. Nighthawk Posted December 17, 2016 Report Posted December 17, 2016 What channel is the game on? Depending on weather and my dad..I might not make it. Saying -29 below wind chill tomorrow morning. I don't see it getting much better by game time. Quote

atskooc Posted December 17, 2016 Report Posted December 17, 2016 One good thing about these guys...they've got no "d." Quote

hhcmatt Posted December 17, 2016 Author Report Posted December 17, 2016 We're seeing some smoke come out about a lineup change. The most likely change is that McVeigh isn't starting. Webster, Watson, and Morrow are locks. GW starts 2 guards, a 6-5 Australian SF struggling to hit 3s, a highly effective 6-7 PF, and an offensively inept Jordy sized center. Jordy and Morrow rarely play together so it's hard to see them starting though they did to start the 2nd half of the Kansas game. If I had to guess I'd say we roll with Watson - Gill - Webster - Jacobson - Morrow I could see Jordy starting instead of Jacobson though it probably makes more sense to start Jordy and MJ Instead of Gill could see Taylor or Roby or even Jack. However, if offensively you're looking for someone to give you more space by shooting, that's Gill. @MichHusker How are Gill's catch and shoot 3pt % numbers looking? If they look at least half way decent it makes a lot of sense for him to be the spot of 3pt shooter we need. Also his game driving to the rim has been a complete disaster so far. Huskerpapa 1 Quote

I tend to agree that this may be the line up. Interesting though that the two players at the presser were Evan and Jordy. My concern is that we still have a unsettled rotation. It is up to the players to step up, and it is time they collectively step up. At this point, our rotation kind of looks like this: PG Glynn, Evan, Tai SG Tai, Anton, Evan W Anton, Tai, Roby, Horne, Jack PF Ed, MJ, Jack. Roby, Nick P Ed, MJ, Jordy Quote

brfrad Posted December 17, 2016 Report Posted December 17, 2016 Hopefully, if McVeigh is sent to the bench, he could play like Vincent Edwards, who came off the bench. He had 20 pts, 10 reb against Notre Dame. If McVeigh can't start shooting, we will not be as productive as we want to in the Big 10. These next 2 games are huge, for his confidence, against Gardner-Webb and Southern. Quote

Others would just have to step up. I think the better way to look at it is that we are so much better if McVeigh can start producing as well. Silverbacked1 1 Quote

Even a better way to look at it, is that position needs to start producing (Gill, if you put him there, Roby and McVeigh). They have struggled all year. Right now those 3 are shooting 29.8% from the floor, 29.3% from 3, and avg. 13.9 PPG. Need to find someone to hit from long range to open up the floor. Silverbacked1 1 Quote
Huskerpapa Posted December 17, 2016 Report Posted December 17, 2016 Jack has been playing the 3 and has had quick players chasing/defending him. What happens if he starts sharing time at the 4? If this happens (not all the time, but on occasion) will he have an "easier" time getting off his shots? I will sort of respond to this myself. It may help, BUT, he has been getting open looks and he simply is missing these open shots. He has to get the flippin negativity out of his head and perhaps the shot will return. uneblinstu Posted December 18, 2016 Report Posted December 18, 2016 I probably won't be able to make it to the game tomorrow. I've missed a December game each of the last two years, lost 'em both. This is a dangerous game. The coaches have been notified. Appropriate precautions are in place. That said, I've got two tickets for tomorrow's game, 200 level, if anyone can use 'em. Quote

hhcmatt Posted December 18, 2016 Author Report Posted December 18, 2016 David Efianayi didn't play on Friday for GW. He takes a lot of shots for them so I wonder if he's also not playing Sunday. Quote

Sorry for the delay... Anton has been terrible in catch and shoot situations. He is 4 of 18 with a PPP of .667. Ranks in the bottom 13% in that category Quote

Silverbacked1 Posted December 20, 2016 Report Posted December 20, 2016 The one shot I saw from where I sit looked like he is short arming it, No goose neck, and his arm motion was flat. I am not a shooting expert, but after reading some on here and knowing a little bit that is what I would say is wrong with his in game shot. Even then he isn't too far off his shot. Both he and McV are just rimming out. Not like it is way off, like my shot looks now. Quote
