  1. I guess it's really that simple ? Until the school releases him, no school can contact him. So the school simply contacts his AAU coach and tells him "Can you ask Noah if he'd have any interest in us?". AAU coach asks Noah and away we go. All clearly not against the rules or else all of those schools mentioned just broke the NCAA laws. In one simple step the clear intent of the rule ( to not tamper with or influence a player ) is sidestepped. I'm not missing anything am I....this is the reality that goes on all the time?
  2. so basically he has no contact with dickerson? doesn't sound good. If he has had contact can he say that he has? I take it his statement is just a timing thing ( he doesn't want to say anything about it at this time ). "I think they are aligned with UF".....we all know that is not currently the case ( at least with Noah D for sure). So it seems you gotta read between the lines...pretty easily in this case.
  3. I get the sentiment but he committed yesterday and can sign shortly. This one is in the books. My friend sent me a message last night saying they were extremely surprised by this as they felt they played all their cards right. Don't give up until the ink is dry and the LOI is sitting in UGA's fax machine. AKA, the Danny Walker recruiting method. Remember when Nee got him to renege (multiple times) on his verbal to Texas about 15 years ago? My memory is just the opposite. He had commited to us and we were fighting off Barnes at the end.
  4. I wonder if his feet are finally all good. That was a real problem here and part of the reason he ultimately left here IIRC ?
  5. I gotta fun you a little bit more...yes the clock has def run out on "Jose" (Ramos) and Jorge Brian too !
  6. If I heard correctly, we would need 4 "full service hotels". We currently have 3.
  7. Think we can find a 6'11 walk on to take Kye's place ? I'm worried about everything, might as well worry about that too. It will be a loss for a guy of that size and decent athleticism to not be on the scout team.
  8. Well said.
  9. Solid red rum, solid. Here's another simple way to look at things. Let's divide this season and last into 6 equal parts. We played really high level ball in 1 of those 6 parts. That's reality. The run last year was simply amazing ( NOW especially looking back with some context). I thought we were off the ground and sailing as a program. Miles tried to issue some cautionary things before the season (noting how we were in the bottom third of the conf in nearly every statistical category for example). Leslee's loss was huge too, I think we'd all agree. Steven Bardo said a time or two in the broadcast last night something that has been one of my little saying for years. Something like "the difference between a good team and a bad team or the difference between winning and losing ....isn't that much". We just never got it going this year and there's a handful of things that explain that ( among the reasons...pressure, shooting, injuries, ref calls, tough losses and I think the biggest of all--just not having enough players who can do more offensively). I firmly believe these guys gave us their all and cared very much. It has to be very humbling for them.
  10. Agree HB. Thanks for continuing to express this line of thought.
  11. Would like to see those minutes flipped, no doubt .
  12. Especially if you add a healthy Leslee Smith.
  13. Time to give 'em their locker room back. These guys have given us everything they've got. This team is pretty offensively challenged and the season has proved it. We can't get to the line, we apparently foul like crazy, we can't hit anything and have 2 proven scorers. Pretty impossible to overcome that. I ain't gonna question their effort. Fine you can nitpik on that, I won't. They've fought hard through a tough season. Just like every other team in the conference, they've continued to battle. Let's hope we can knock off the Terps and win a game or two in the B10 tourney. BTW, since Groce isn't our coach, man is he easy to not like....what a lunatic.
  14. Which brings up the fact that we could use some quality walk ons for next year. I know we have J Trueblood coming but we could sure use a Kye type big man who's got some size and is a decent athlete.
  15. I feel like I'm hijacking the thread but with AW(4)3, Watson, Morrow, and Jacobsen, and loss of 3 big seniors, we may look very guard heavy like we did when Ade was the 5 and Ryan was the 4. But the talent and versatility will be a big improvement. Gotta have high expectations next year. We'd at least have Walter and Jacob, so we'd be bigger than that team ( Ade and Ryan ). As far as expectations, the team should have high ones. The fans should have tempered ones...JMHO.
  16. This a really solid thread with some really good thoughts. Good to commiserate with you guys ! Some tough decisions after the season on player changes, I'm thinking. I'd hate to lose anyone. I want to strenghthen what we have already and add solid pieces. That'd be more rewarding in a sense. On the other hand, this is big boy ball and we nead as much help as possible.
  17. I share your feelings on your first two sentences. This was a beat down no doubt...it was one of those games ( full games ) where nothing went right. We have had several halfs like that, but we found a way to fight back into most of those. I don't think the players quit. I did not see lack of effort....I doubt anyone will agree with me on that. We are seriously lacking offensive talent and spark. Which I said last year right before we went on the most incredible run in my lifetime. We really haven't been all that impressive all year and the reason we haven't been is because we aren't that good. I'm talking overall Big 10 offensive talent. Sure we can play D....because we have to. That said...I hope the young men don't give up because we have shown just like everyone else in bottom of our league that we can compete ( a lot has to go right however for that to happen ).
  18. The refs stunk, Iowa was really on their game, we played bad, we shot bad....but I gotta tell you, I did not see lack of effort.
  19. Do tell. Whadya see ?
  20. Turned the ball over like crazy, shot it bad, weren't getting bounces or calls....yet right there with 2 something to go. Fight left in this team. Go get 'em men and don't give up. 6 losses for MN in one or two possession games..ouch. Somebody else coming to town feels the same way. Gotta find a way to hand NW another "L".

    NIT

    Rock solid. Very much agree.
  22. The role players gotta man up and be willing to take shots with confidence. The season's slipping away, they've got no choice, it's time to be be brave and try to make it happen.

Not sure you're seeing the point there. Some of those 12 win seasons had nowhere near the preseason expectations this team had. It's disappointing because of how good this team COULD HAVE been, and probably should have been. So yeah, I agree with KLDM here, with preseason expectations, i can't say I've ever been as disapointed with a season as this one. But surely you can now understand why those expectations have not been met ? We finished last season with a most amazing, improbable run. Did anyone see that coming ? A run that happened despite the fact that we finished in he bottom third of nearly every statistical category in the conference. Go up and down our roster, let's be honest, there are two guys on our roster that any other team in our conference would be interested in. I realize this this bleeds into the offensive discussion in the other threads. We need better players and we are getting some. The pressure will be on from them to produce. Without last years run, very unlikely that we get the guys coming in that we do.
  24. Simple thoughts....solid thoughts. And wouldn't it be nice if everybody understood "and fans cheered" meant you supported and believed in your team the whole game (implies you stay for whole game as well).
  25. Ouchtown: Population Smitty That looks a whole lot like that Northwestern/Maryland play (at the 45 second mark in this video): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WXXtd68DIE I marvel at this simple little putback that ....oh yea won the game for them. Just very poised. He jumps and catches it and in just one fluid motion toses it off the glass before coming down.
