  1. Seeing his highlights and seeing his interviews on this thread and the other ( a post game from last season ), this young man is very impressive. Seems very bright and thoughtful ( isn’t just throwing out lame sports speak ). I knew very little about him until today. Very glad he’s a Husker.
  2. Do tell….am I remembering a smallish PG that one year the crowd teased (b/c of his size) by raining down slow methodical chants of “squirrrrrelll” in the arena ? Do I got the right guy ?
  3. Nightmare…..we absolutely hammer these guys in the regular season and have one of our best years ever (90-91)…only to have us lose right off as a 3 seed and they won a game in the dance that year….Nebraska basketball, you can’t even make this stuff up.
  4. I very much remember you talking about this guy his FR year. Well done!!
  5. Thanks for posting. Hadn’t heard that. Pretty sure I got his autograph at the Devaney when he was coaching at CU. I’m sure I have it somewhere
  6. Renfro’s more than the Kenny Walton’s. You gotta love Claude Renfro, he was a DUDE. I always wondered what happened to Kenny and Handy, pretty sure neither finished their career’s here.
  7. Jeepers, gotta love Doc. Sounds like him and Fred are still “good” from the article. I wish we could get Doc’s take on what all was going on last year ( that’d be something ). I’ll never forget the mighty mites season ( ugh that loss to A & M ). The day they gave tours to the new practice facility, Doc was in his new office and he sees our group coming. He just busts open his doors and tells everyone to “ come on in”…. dude was awesome. I still like to us his phrase “‘preciatecha” ( translation = I appreciate you).
  8. Sam H….I mean wow. This kid is right up there with any story on the team right now. Redshirt FR, walk on, having the guts to play for your dad, 6’…and just stepping in on a struggling, injury riddled team of misfits. Playing with no fear in major minutes to help the team to some improbable wins. Young man is legit !!
  9. I literally listened to this song tonight when I got home from work an hour ago….what are the chances eh ?
  10. I think 128 teams would be great. But I don’t like the idea of a 32 seed playing a 1, kinda pointless. So to address that and the “watered down tourney” concerns, do this instead….96 teams with the top 32 teams getting a bye. Seed teams 35-96 however and play those first round games. Now you’re down to 64 again. Not sure if it’d be better to have the brackets all set with all 96 or to seed after the first round games. OR …. Even better, start with 128 teams. A top 64 and bottom 64. Bottom 64 play each other with the winners then playing teams 33-64. Now you’re down to 64. Are you kidding me, this would be awesome. Get rid of the other tournaments (NIT, CBI, CIT). Make it a big deal for all of D1 college basketball. Don’t allow this to benefit lower teams in the big conferences. Instead give other conferences the benefit. Especially in the current climate, not much difference between teams 34-128. Many will disagree with that I’m sure. The 128 scenario would be awesome.
  11. Jeepers, what a likable young man. All indications are that this team will be easy to root for. It’d be super cool if they have some success and fans get behind them.
  12. Ah man, I was a big Sixers fan in the early 80’s when the Sixers and Bucks seemed to tangle in the playoffs every year. Lanier, Junior Bridgeman(sp?), Sidney Moncrief, Brian Winters vs Doc, Dawkins, Bobby and Caldwell Jones, Mo Cheeks, Andrew Toney….I want to relive my childhood. It was all so larger than life back then.
  13. Still out here lurkin . Wanted to get in on the Martin Luther is a heretic brief conversation a few weeks back
  14. Jeeps, seems like a crying’ shame in this instance anyway.
  15. Not as athletic as Kimani. Better shot though. Similar to Derrick Chandler. Better shot than Derrick too. From the little film I saw, he could bury a 10-15 foot jumper much smoother than those two. I’m not saying he’s better than those guys, but we can hope at this point.
  16. I’m pretty ignorant of all the NIL stuff, what rules need to be changed in order for him to make money ?
  17. Wow, thanks so much for posting that. This young man truly is special. Hopefully dreams come true all the way around with his coming to NU !
  18. I remember when I was in Jr High they had a step by step picture series in the Lincoln Journal or Star ( I think separate papers in those days) showing how Jack shot his free throws. I tried to copy his method and was pretty successful !! Makes me wonder if I have that clipping somewhere still.
  19. A Husker Switcheroo coming, 31 years after the first.
  20. What a story!!
  21. Wow everybody. Way too much to try to comment on. But, what a fun trip down memory lane...thanks everyone.
  22. You got me on that. I wouldn’t have put that together. Great to see you active here my friend !
  23. First time down in Columbia...lost 71-91? And in Big 8 tourney vs KU (win) and maybe at home one game that year ? I’m guessing you’ll remember?
  24. FWIW, this is definitely not 90-91 as I don’t believe TB was even on the roster. The next year I believe he redshirted as Fr. Then he played as a RS Fr ( along with true Freshmen Boone, Woolridge and Strickland) on the 92-93 team. Pretty sure I have that right ? All that to say that this picture was 92 at the earliest.
  25. I’m guessing nobody else ( besides White ).
