Post Game Chatter: ed 7, vol 19 - Michigan St
lang replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Walt and Terran are the two that do the trash talking and other subtle (usually) things that can get you into trouble (elbows and after the play type stuff). I'd strongly prefer they not do those things. It'd be interesting know what Miles thinks of it. Then with Walt yesterday, what a total lack of poise. On the positive...what a great win !! -
May Nick keep making contributions and strides this year. Next year he will likely see less time. So hopefully he can stay the course next year so it can really start paying off his Jr year ?

Update on Moses Abraham & Leslee Smith
lang replied to AuroranHusker's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Ooooh my word, those last two posts really got my funny bone !! Thanks guys. -
It's a pretty good arguement 'diehard. The season is in the balance and it's slipping away. You gotta play lose (somewhat) and to win...and that isn't always easy and there is some risk involved. I understand those 3 don't want to hurt the team, but at some point THAT may hurt the team. It's a shame with Tai..was so hoping he would get it going and be a real help this year. Instead he seems to be in that rut again.

Update on Moses Abraham & Leslee Smith
lang replied to AuroranHusker's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
No doubt Norm. If we have a reasonably healthy Leslee and Moses for this whole year, this whole season would have looked much different up to now and going forward. -
uneblinstu's Post Game Chatter: ed 7, vol 13 - Indiana

You gotta admire our guys' fight...what are we even doing in the game with the missed close shots, rebounding probs with big men out and general lack of offensive weapons. Why do we have a few guys who talk crap on the floor, looks pretty stupid when you are an average team. Looks stupid anyway, but we have no business talking junk. Feel really bad for Tai, it just hasn't worked here so far. Still season to play, but it's feeling like it's settling into the same as last year. I have no doubt he has some game, it just hasn't came together here for whatever reason. Looking forward to the infusion of talent next year. You gotta have some confidence and moxey at this level. We gotta be able to put more pressure on teams from all over the place offensively and of course still guard on "D". Still season to play this year though too. Hopefully the young men keep fighting. -
Nice update Norm, thanks !

I have to admit Dave, I would have forgotten most of the original content etc...thanks for the recap and thanks again for getting the ball rolling. Dimes, huge praise for continuing to keep the ball rolling (and to the guys in between Dave and Dimes). And then thanks to the 10-20 posters who are the "large volume" guys who keep the site exciting and informative and going as well. Of course thanks to everybody's else for their needed 2 cents as well to fill in the gaps....gotta have us role players too.

The timing of the OP was....well timed and wise. Terran seems to be in a little funk (maybe, maybe not)....didn't play well in that practice video that was posted and then not well in the EXH Vs SWMN either. Probably no big deal, but he was so awesome this summer. Our bench is young and has missed significant time here and there with various ailments. We can't be too worried about style points right now, just get the "W's" flowing. Hopefully our bench can grow into it and some general struggles will keep the team hungry and attentive. The season's a long haul. No worries, coach will keep them on the up and up.

Thanks for the recap on those two fellers Norm !
-
I would have forgotten about those two if Jimmy hadn't brought them up. Good times indeed. Can you summarize their "blaze of glory" Norm ? I don't remember that.
-
THAT is pretty great !

By the way, whoever told Connie Yori ...
lang replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I'm right with you Norm. I immediately turned to my 14 year old and said "that's not true" .... I mean I had to tell somebody. I'm glad you pointed it out here. History is history and facts is facts and I'm a bear for details ( see below ). No hate on Connie of course...she just had it wrong. -
I've been here since Dave started it and haven't had any reason to look anywhere else. Everybody here says it's the best site and I have no reason to suspect that's not accurate. I don't have the time to hunt down other sites anyway. I really appreciate everyone's input to make this what it is. I'm very glad the site has stayed pretty tight and classy even with last years success. My personal fear was that it would get big and out of control ( too much to read and keep up with ), but that hasn't happened. Everybody keep doing what you're doing !

PS - I'm not so sure Menke can't dunk. I bet he can get pretty darn close if not.

It's too bad that more people couldn't have been there (Weds night b/c of Halloween Friday and then the Royals). I hope it wasn't underwhelming for the players. I'm sure they understand the circumstances. Anyone remember how many people were there last year ? Tear'a is a crazy athlete. She can boggie around like a dude.
-
oh Norm. .... That gave me some good chuckles. Thanks.

Leslee Smith out for 2014-15 with an ACL tear
lang replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
IIRC Kenny Wilhite came back in some crazy short time (4 months ?) when he played at NU. -
What is that, by chance??? I think they go through a process where if you did not renew...they don't act like "Well, you snooze, you lose!"...but rather they send an email etc telling you goodbye unless you... I think I got one of those once when they crossed in the mail. Don't let it happen with Basketball or you will never get back in to what is now becoming the toughest ticket in the state! Thank you Tim Miles...and TO for the forsight to make it so! Yep, they shoot you an email as a heads up and send another invoice with the opportunity to still renew. The new deadline is tomorrow. I know b/c this was me. I renewed tonight....so I'm still "N" !!
-
Norm, pretty sure I read the other day that D'Jery has only played ball for 4 years.
-
Here's is what lang is trying to figure out....Morrow plays against crazy good competition and does very well and has for quite some time now. Patton has done some good things just this summer ( totally Johnny come lately ) and he is rated higher than Ed ? I don't follow recruiting closely, but this alone seems out of whack.

Which Former Husker Would You Want on Your Roster This Year?
lang replied to HuskerFever's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Eric Strickland or Tyron Lue ? -
You just yinged my yang...I sure hope you are right as I'd love to routinely pound those annoying birds !!
-
I will too. I will just say this regrettably, I think we all hoped CU would just kind of tank post McD. At this point, things certainly do not appear to trending that way at all. We are going to have to beat them for recruits and on the court straight up. We certainly have a leg up this year with TP and the gang though.

No doubt White and Morrow seem like great fits for dear old NU. Come aboard men !
