Looks like they have it partially corrected now as it says 1983 NIT, but then goes on to say 2004 season for 2nd team all conf. honors. Loved Cloudy, one smooth dude.

I'll never forget the mighty mites year when Doc gave the Jack Moore to Paul V over Ade. Very odd and just plain wrong.

Ayegba will help a little but he's incredibly foul prone.

I don't know, I'd say Dirk has done his share of gushing over NU and Miles the last few months. I can't say I disagree with his statement actually. But, obviously at one time Moses was pretty highly regarded and Coach didn't hide his enthusiasm and hopes for the big fella....so that's good enough for me. -
Who??? Never heard of him. All I know, is that Clifford Scales is a Westchester grad:) Nice, beat me to it ...that is what I was thinking. Carl Hayes too right ?

Prospects visiting Nebraska in the very near future

I'm assuming that everybody is assuming that you are joking. I'd be crazy nuts if we found out you weren't -
Anybody know much about the legality of selling tickets for more than face value ? I've done some lazy looking and haven't found much info.

This really makes me feel like a duphus and I'm thrilled about that. After several games in of our conference season of watching us and watching a pretty fair amount of Big10 games besides ours, I had come to the conclusion that we were way behind most of the conference in quality players ( 2 pretty good ones and a bunch of one trick pony's and limited offensive gamers ). Yea that was right about when "Us Always" got going and put on the most incredible conference run in my lifetime. Miles meshed our guys into a savvy, successful unit... a thing of beauty you might say. Guys just totally buying into their roles and making us win. I'm still hoping we can add a few pieces to continue to make us better for next year. Although you hate to upset the apple cart too much.

KenPom 2013-2014 KenPom Rankings Thread
lang replied to HuskerActuary's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
True, Last 10 games is not used by the committee anymore. However, they do discuss things and they are human and certainly comments like "Nebraska has been one of the top 2 or 3 teams in the Big Ten over the last month and a half" will be uttered, and that will have some value in people's minds. Wow, that is really interesting. I have never really followed the selection process much. But your recent success or lake thereof is not factored in anymore ? That seems to totally lack common sense. Anyone know when this changed and the rational behind it? -
uneblinstu's post game chatter: ed 6, vol 31 - Wisconsin
lang replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Maybe there is more to those comments than I understand. I can certainly see why coach is thinking c'mon don't bring up all that past stuff, it's a fresh start. On the other hand, for us fans, I think we understand all the past stuff and the putting it into context for us. The OWH guys have been gushing over Miles lately, so it was a little weird that Miles was ready to pounce. Oh well, he can do whatever he wants -
Suprise Teams of the Husker Men's BB Program
lang replied to HuskerCager's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
We have four future NBA players on that squad.I only count 3..Lue, Strick and Mikki. Did Vincent ever make a roster? -
People have talked about how Miles doesn't mind "bigs" (maybe even prefers) who are more in the 6'8''/6' 9'' range ( really active guys that can do a bit of everything ) that fit his style of play. Yet he has tried to get E Robinson and now this big fella. If we get such a player, does it change things much for him ? Does he sacrifice something or is it a no-brainer considering our conference and the competition therein ? I think I'm answering my own question as I type this b/c I'm thinking about Leslee and Jacob next year as I would think they can move around like he wants. I wonder if Elbert would have been able to move on D like Miles requires. Just wonder if anyone has thoughts on this if I've made any sense.

That video is sweet !

Hopefully a new tradition ! Very nicely done. It sounds like it will only get louder. I've never been a big "Husker Power" fan, but in this context and with this enthusiasm, I'm all in. I wasn't able to be there....Norm said something about the drummers ? Did the drum line do their thing like last year ? Also has the "Morgan Freeman voice" video still not been played since FGCU ? Have we ever heard anything on this ? I can understand a bit on the confetti....what a mess to clean up ( extra time, money, manpower ).

Exactly. You also can't tell me that Michigan State simply overlooked a team that won 5 of its last 7 games in B1G conference play... Absolutely agree. And so as far as our next game, call me a coward but I usually prepare myself for the worst. You think Penn State has anything to lose ? They have 2 guards that may go crazy in our game and sometimes there is nothing you can do to stop it. That guard from Minny went crazy on us...did he even play tonight / is he even in the rotation still ( I didn't see the whole game) ? You just never know what's going to happen. I will be absolutely thrilled if we get the win, the Big 10 has been nuts this year. I don't think we've arrived by any stretch, although this run has been incredible.

I'm too lazy to dig out the LJS from the other day or dig into the media guides or look it up on-line....but pretty sure EJ wasn't even here in the 89-90 season ( his Sr year was 88-89 / he did have two 30 point games that year right at the start of the season ). I don't think Rich King had a 30 point game that same year as Eric Johnson did ( Rich would have been a Soph). He may have had one the next year ( 89-90). I'm pretty sure he had a 40 point game his Sr year ( the Danny breakout year / year 5 of Danny). Someone mentioned that Lue and Boone both had 30 in the same game ....wow.
-
Lue (FR) and Boone (SR) ...94-95 season? I think Rich King had a 40 point ? game during the Danny breakout year ( 90-91 ). I just don't know if anyone else had that many at any point during that season. The first game of the Big 8 tourney that year was high scoring 117-111 ? ...maybe someone had a high total that night ? ERic Johnson opened his SR year with back to back 30 point games...but again I don't think anyone else had any that year. Not sure if Strickland, Cookie or Vincent ever had 30...had to be close in there. I'm kind of grasping, maybe I'll spur a memory for someone.

Nice write up Dave. Lots of good points in there. Agree on the defense as the first half wore down. I'm yelling at the TV "what are you guys doing ??!! "
-
Man, 'niner, would he really do that ? That sounds crazy. Have you ever heard of a coach doing that ?
-
That powerfully kind of you Dave ! Believe me, ' still alive and kickin' Husker Hoops. I'm usually just trying to keep up with what everyone is saying here. Every once in a while, I'll give 2 cents though. Hugh kind of picks his spots on here too. He had some positives re our Huskers that picked me up some in a conversation we had a few weeks ago. These are still exciting times. Nothing that a lot of hard work and some nice recruit's can't fix

Hooper, I think the end of your last sentence sums it up pretty well ..."but we need more well rounded guard play in this league ". Speaking offensive ability only, this can be said of virtually every player on our team. I would submit we have 3 current players who fit into the "well rounded" category...Terran, Shavon and Leslee. And I realize you could argue only Terran. For their positions, these are the most well rounded offensive players on the team. We have some major catching up to do. Now, I hope we have some sleeping giants on our roster that can find their grove and confidence and or just develop through some Pettewayan off season hard work. I also realize that different situations can bring out confidence, moxy in a player. For example ...does anyone doubt that Petteway was capable of averaging more than 3 points a game his FR year at TT ? A different situation was given that enabled him to flourish ( not to take away the hard work that he has done in the meantime ). The opposite is true with Ray... he had to be taking shots last year. And although he didn't hit a great percentage, he absolutely worked his tail off on offense and defense and was a MAJOR part of our upstart, surprising team. This year...it's like the situation just hasn't been right for him. Many here are way smarter than me when it comes to then putting the offensive part with the DEFENSIVE part and therefore the total player. My comments have simply been what I see offensively and in the context of the kind of player I see rolling off the opposing Big 10 benches.
-
Through the magic of cable TV, I have watched quite a bit of Big 10 this season and before tonight's game I would have said the same thing I'm going to say now.... #1 Where in the world would we be without Terran ? #2 We are at the bottom in talent in this conference at this time ( b ball smarts, confidence, offensive ability ) Terran--stud pretty much, has some weaknesses Shavon--been somewhat of a disappointment, no worries-will come around Ray--disappointment, hasn't found his groove at all this year--can't do what most of the other guards in this league can do ( dribble really well, get to hole, draw fouls Walter--so much to work on, got potential ? I have a feeling he could do lots more and hasn't felt comfy to unleash it in games Tai--gotta be much more of a threat all around offensively...see comments on Walter but much bigger issues with confidence. Freshman, really gotta grow. Leslee- been doing what he can, more consistency would be nice David--same as Leslee comments but even more of a role player Benny--just real limited Nathan--so young, potential certainly there, too "big" ?--seems not quite svelte and athletic enough for his position? conclusion...no one has the limitations we do #3--we've done some good things obviously as we've won 3 games #4 I see the other teams rosters and I wonder how we've done #3. #5 I love my team and coach Miles... just LOTS of work to do ( both recruiting and in the gym). sorry for the ramble....lang

Who on our roster possesses Big Ten level talent?
lang replied to bkamler's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Coach Smith confirmed on the show tonight, that Fuller has really been playing well since he came back from an extended Christmas break. -
Should severely slumping sophomore Shavon Shields sit?
lang replied to TheKamdyMan's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
What throwback, NUdiehard and Cental...are saying I am in hearty agreement with. I feel really bad for Rivers ( and thrilled that he is still being a good teammate ), but no way at all I'd play him over a "struggling" Shields. -
Jeeps, love listening to Coach. Sounds like Nate has been playing well in practice, just hasn't gotten it done in games. Also, coach Smith in his segment, confirmed what someone else said in another thread about Fuller....he's been playing really well since coming back from an extended Christmas break.

BTW--it sounds like Pitchford gutted one out in trying to help the team ( couldn't do the shoot around b/c sick, but gave the game a go).
