I remember the Mizzou game somewhat ( listening on the radio ). Not as well as you. I can’t remember if it was a weeknight or Saturday night? It was fun and unexpected is what I do remember. Terry Smith I believe had a nice game ( that sweet soft turnaround from the baseline) and we won 66-51? 1982 ? I could look it up, but that’s no fun.

100%….and so many other things.

RE Dube….Well I guess I was wrong on a chunk of what I asserted. As the Vonz tried to say “I was wrong”. He was an explosive shoot blocker and dunker that’s for sure. I did not remember that freakish wingspan. Back to the main point, seems like Diop has more potential, we’ll see.

Dube could jump, but he couldn’t run well or shoot well and he wasn’t 6’ 10” with a 7’3” wingspan.

Sunshine Pumper: The Response to the Debbie Downer

I woulda swore Steve was gone, but nope you’re correct ! I do remember Beau’s game winner and rushing the floor to celebrate. I can’t remember if we were down 1 or tied, so I can’t remember if it was a 2 or 3. Do remember we won by 2. -

I remember hearing about him. Just a whisker before my time. So I’ll go with, “ you’re probably right” ! -

Man o man, I can’t remember on Joe Holmes. I’ll add Lenard Johnson to Kenny and Chris from the Iba era ! -
Noticed in the recruiting forum that we are interested in yet another lefty. It got me trying to list all the lefties I could think of since Danny Née. Just from memory, here’s what I got….Vick, Lewis Geter, VanPolgeist, Boone, Strickland, Pike’s little brother, Sek, Anton, Thor, Jordy, Edwardo, Keisei. That’s all my brain could muster on a Sunday night as I’m looking forward to hitting the sack and tackling the coming week. Surely I’ve missed some, anyone got anybody to add ?

Coulda swore someone posted in this thread that Fred did things different last year ( it wasn’t just goofin off time )? That might temp me to go if I knew that was more likely. Sorry to sound like a snob but “precious time is slippin away” (Van Morrison).

I’ve said this for years, expand the dance and get rid of the rest of the post season tournaments. If you did it right, it’d be even more popular.

That was terrible indeed. That lower bleacher section was rockin in the good old days.

Man we just gotta get everybody HEALTHY and then keep everybody HAPPY. Then -> something special?
-
This old man’s take….these nights have turned into weird, awkward, gimmicky things. I’m not gonna go and regret it again. I don’t want to see meaningless screw around time. Much rather get a glimpse of some of what they do in a typical practice and then a real scrimmage.

Thanks for that 49r. I don’t follow Husker volleyball hardly at all. Happy for them of course and admire the strength of the program. That was a super read and makes me hope tomorrow is a smashing success. Sounds like the actual world record is going to be very close - GBR !

First off, super happy you’re up and running Norm ! I’ll chime in on the how things have changed. I grew up in the trailer courts of NW Lincoln in the 70-80’s ( yea trailer park trash ). We had A/C, but my parents both grew up on the farm and were thrifty. We’d turn it on 5-10 days a summer and man was that ever a BIG deal when we did. Right up there with getting a snow day for school. Fast forward to my first year of marriage. My parent’s thrifty-ness definitely was still my mindset. Our first summer as the weather starts heating up, I’m not budging on turning on the A/C just yet. I suggested we sleep on the couches in the basement where it’s cooler. My wife was down there for like 10 minutes ( it was cooler but yucky humid ). She marches upstairs “ if I’m going to feel this miserable I might as well be in a bed”. I turned the air on that night and have never looked back…thrifty days for A/C were over. I will add though, I’m 56 now and biked everyday to work this week (over 100 temps & 18 miles round trip). Do I get some tough guy points for that ? -
Drunk driving…..extremely sad and sobering b/c the consequences are potentially so extremely sad and sobering.

So here we sit again. Even right up to the end here we’ve missed on some pieces that seemingly could have added some more to our team. We have guys recovering from surgeries ( 3 - good grief ), our star’s away again for the summer and only 11 on scholarship. Make no mistake, nobody will be picking us pre season to dance post season. But lots has went well since the season has ended. Just like last year, this looks like a roster of guys the fans will appreciate. Is this the one that will make history? It kind of has that weird feel for me….

RE - Z Edey coming back….gag

I caught a little blip on local sports this morning ( from Fred last night ). In addition to the bulked up comment, our staff is doing everything they can to help him with NBA evaluations. Also, said he will join his national team in June.

H Minor - “baby Jordan” right ? Was that his title, can’t remember. Think he was a lefty. -
I really wish he’d have given it 1 more year. He’s got a weird, quirky style no doubt. But I think there was something there.
