I think Garner was the JUCO player of the year ?
-
Cookie is easily one of my all time favorite Husker hoopsters....in case you care
-
Speaking of Sam Hill....one of the meanest, orneriest, and funniest signs I ever saw at the Devaney - "Where the Sam Hill did you get those ears?". At a game vs Iowa State, who had a player named Sam Hill ( who happened to have some pretty big ears ).

2016 JC C Kavell Bigby-Williams -> Oregon -> LSU
lang replied to Norm Peterson's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Looks like he'd have to sit a year to me. He finished juco career and was on the market last year this time and played his Jr year this year. -
You've crystalized our thoughts well cwg !!

2017 Juco Chris Darrington -> Tennessee
lang replied to The Polish Rifle's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Looks to me like he's for this coming year. Finishing his soph ( last yr of JC ). "2018" makes it look like he's for the following season, not next season. -
Okay I'll start it Who is coming back?

Coach took the words out of my mouth on his radio show Monday night. See the last few lines of Chris B's article in LJS the next day re the call in show from Monday night. Tanner can very possibly give us some solid minutes next year. -

I'd really like Tanner to stay. Call me a fool, but I think the kid has some ability and intangibles. As in, I think he can contribute. When he came back in the middle of the year, he seemed to indicate strongly that he is here to stay. Young man is smooth and has a high BB IQ, from what I can tell. -
Saw him on the bench ! I wonder what the story was/is. With our injuries, who do you suppose contacted who? I hope it's not just for the remainder of this year. He'd be a super addition to the team over the next few years ( practice for sure ... and more ? ).

2019 JUCO SF Teddy Allen - WNCC - Signed
lang replied to basketballjones's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Just heard today that Teddy is certainly dealing with a tough situation from the very recent past. I'm not trying to excuse him for last night. It does make me more sympathetic however. -
So happy for him. He seems to have stuck at it with a great attitude. They had an interview of him on Sports Nightly the other night. Just seems like a super young man. Also pretty cool while Miles was doing the post game TV interview today, Jack jumps in and interrupts and is totally pointing at Miles with a sort of "you the man" type feel--good stuff.

2019 JUCO SF Teddy Allen - WNCC - Signed

Really glad he is not heading to Nebraska. I was at the Centenial conference final tonight ( Boys Town Vs Bishop Neumann ). BN beat them by around 40 about a month ago. The game tonight was a pretty good game most of the way. Bishop always had the lead, but BT kept it under 10. The lead started to grow in the 4th and then Teddy got called for a foul as a BN player hit a layup. Teddy had had enough and told the ref that he f'ing sucked ( I could hear it from 15 rows up ) . The ref didn't hear it, so Teddy told him again...the ref heard this time and T'd him. Teddy went to his bench , but decided he wasn't done. He walked over to the scorers table where two refs were and either said something and or clapped at them. He was thrown out of the game at that point. Teddy clearly is very talented for a Nebraska HS player. Not sure how his game translates at the next level. That's the least of his problems, given the above prargraph. I could describe a few more situations as I've seen him play twice this season. When a person is willing to be a bad butt in front of everyone, that's usually not a good sign. -
Alonzo Edwards....now there's a name I probably would have forgot eventually.
-
Re Watson benching....I think he shot himself in the foot on the player lockout 2 years ago too.

uneblinstu's Post Game Chatter: Vol 9, Ed 1 - Sacramento State
lang replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
At last years "pre-season" scrimmage, Anton Gill stole the show. He was pretty explosive and was taking any shot he wanted and nailing them. Roby will be fine, starting now. Jordy will be fine, very soon. I'm hunching the ISU scrimmage is a better teller than the game last night of what these guys can do. I was impressed with Jack's improved fluidity/athleticism. -
"Ameliorated" ..... you never cease to amaze or impress Norm !

Cool, cool, cool ! Pretty hard to top Shavon on the favorites list isn't it ?

Nebraska will not pursue further postseason play

I like that. That would accomplish some of the things I mentioned. It would be better than what we have now. -

I REALLY like your last paragraph. I say it makes NCAA men's basketball worse overall...kind of disjointed and weird in the post season. I say do away with the "other" 3 tournaments and I'd do something really radical like...give the top 32 teams a bye and then seed 128 other teams and play it down. It would be really really cool and not to mention awesome. It would give many programs a really cool opportunity to be a part of something big. Some wouldn't like these programs from little conferences knocking off major conference teams in the first and second round. I know most feel this would water down the tournament and the importance of the regular season, I totally disagree. Maybe in that first round, you give home games to the higher seeds. I so wish this could happen. Another bi-product of this would be that ALL the teams and conferences would be followed throughout the season....much more so anyway. Again it would make for a more cohesive NCAA mens Div 1 product. -
Classic Norm right there.....you gotta love it.

I'm not a fan of Jake L at all, but if Jack could get to the point to where he moved around on the court even close to how Jake does, I'd be thrilled. I was hoping Jack would be a little taller Eric Piatkowski (sp?) clone, but he just can't move like Eric P or the villainous Jake L. I really hope they can keep building his athleticism, because he needs it.

I don't want to be a dork with some hot scoop....but I had a real happenstance short conversation today re Jordy with someone who would most certainly know. And yes NU is still very much in the picture.

Greatest Hustle Play in Husker History
lang replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
No comparison to the Chubick deal for sure, but in recent memory Shavon's freshman year he dove for and secured a ball at about mid-court vs Northwestern @ home ( pretty sure ) that impressed the livin' daylights out of me. I always wish I could see footage of that to see if it was as impressive as I thought it was at the time. -
Nice, gotta have some size and toughness on that scout team ! Welcome Josh, indeed.

so basically he has no contact with dickerson? doesn't sound good. If he has had contact can he say that he has? I take it his statement is just a timing thing ( he doesn't want to say anything about it at this time ). "I think they are aligned with UF".....we all know that is not currently the case ( at least with Noah D for sure). So it seems you gotta read between the lines...pretty easily in this case. Maybe he is saying he actually was not the lead recruiter for Dickerson? Possible that it was a simple mistake by whoever reported it. I can't remember who all has said that he was the primary for Noah. Seems like it would be easy to find that out ( news reports from signing day, Gator talk sites etc). Easy, but I ain't taking the time and potentially ruining all the suspense and intrigue
