GREAT! Now it'll be at least another year before we'll have to get off that high horse! I'll bet they'll be getting REALLY lathered up about this over on BJU pretty soon...

  3. OK, so only off slightly. One year has only made a little difference. I'm going to go with ... PG -- Glynn Watson (****) SG -- Anton Gill (****) SF -- Isaiah Roby (****) PF -- Ed Morrow (****) C -- Jacob Hammond (***) Yep, only change was that Jake Hammond wants to be known as Jacob. Thanks for pointing that out, Auroran. Yeah, 'cause, like, if you google "Jacob Hammond" as opposed to "Jake Hammond" it comes up with a totally different person, some high school center from Comanche, Oklahoma. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Jacob-Hammond-132900 I do recall that Jacob told Lee Barfknecht that he wanted to known by 'Jake' in college. So they are different: one has cable, the other has direcTV! As far as the rest of the lineup, it's kind of amazing how NU has ramped up recruiting with Miles & Co. Can't wait to see this year's version take the court in 39 days for the exhibition game!

I can go either way on this subject, but I probably wouldn't buy a $9 beer at a game. I also don't see it as being as big of a problem as some people think. The ones who are going to get drunk and disorderly at a Nebrasketball game, or any other sporting event, are usually already drunk when they show up in the building.

  7. BTW, Ed never lifted weights until college. Maybe he's Russian. In Russia, weights lift you. The weight he had to carry was the expectations of father & mother both being former Husker athletes.

  8. As much as I enjoy a snifter of porte on the Holidays, I for one hope they NEVER sell beer at the Bank. While I understand the financial benefits would be lucrative, there is always that element of the crowd that would turn it into the 12th Annual Drunken Barn Dance.

  11. I saw him play this summer and was really surprised how much his skills have improved at IW. He's not a Big Ten type center, not even close, just doesn't have the physique to hold off big guys backing down. But he could definitely protect the rim in a defense that pressures out on the floor. Wichita seems like a good fit, but I'll be interested to see if we offer. Might be a sign that we're going to change the way we play defense.

  12. I would love to see him as a nice power center option. Defensively I feel he could play at the D1 level in the middle like the centers we see at Cincinnati and could provide some bounce on the offensive end. Can't link his freshman tape on here but I like what I see from him and he's local which can't hurt us in recruiting him.

  13. Here is a Rivals print article on Victor Bailey with a video interview. He is being described on recruiting sites as a point guard, but in this video interview he says he projects at the next level as a 2 or a 3. He comes from an athletic family. According to the Rivals article: "Before moving to Austin, Bailey lived in Urbana and his mom was the women's track coach for the Illini. His father Victor Bailey Sr. played football at Missouri and in the NFL with the Eagles and Chiefs." In the interview he's asked who the best athlete in his family might be. The answer: he'd like to say it's him but can't because he hasn't played in the pros yet. Through the video interview, he comes across as a bright, thoughtful and well-spoken person--precisely the type of athlete Tim Miles & Co. always seem to recruit.

  16. I'm reading that right, right? Akol wants to commit to Nebraska as a 9th grader so that he can be the youngest Husker commit ever? I mean, that's what he said. He's already 6'3" and in 8th grade and the people that apparently know say he could be the best of the Arops. In which case, I'm glad he's made up his mind already and wants to be a Husker!!!! Wooohhoooooo!!!! Edited to add quote: "It pushes me to work even harder," Akol said. "I know (Aguek) was the youngest player to ever commit to Nebraska as a sophomore, and now I want to beat him by doing it as a freshman." He did NOT say it was NU he would commit to, just he wanted to commit as a freshman.
