I bet Williams and Gary are about to go off in the Big 10 Tournament.  Gary for sure should be on the list somewhere for his ability to do everything.  Without Williams and Gary this team is a bottom dweller again this year.

4 Iowa players (5 Total) on the Media Honorable Mention, but no Gary or Williams.  I hope they both take this personally

I thought KT would be higher in the media poll as he seems to be a media darling that they try to promote.  It is a tribute to him that he is regarded so highly by the coaches.  They must recognize how they have to prepare for him and the impact he can have on a game.  Granted he doesn't do it every game but I would think he is feared as much as anyone in the conference as a guy that can go off and carry a team.

My vote for assistant COY goes to our defensive coordinator. Hoiberg's Iowa State teams were always pretty weak defensively. The progression of this years defense from the beginning of the season to the end has been pretty remarkable.

Called this one. Sad about honnorable mention. You'd tink the third place team in the B1G would have more representation than, say, the 9th place team.

But no problem. I think the writers ,in particular, are going to get to know our players soon enough. This is going t be a pretty pumped up Husker team for this tourney. I'm kinda glad they got this chip to wear on their shoulders.

The statue erected after this season will be similar to the team photo in the movie Hoosiers.  Won't look like the photo, but the entire team will be a part of it.

The B1G “Pocket Protectors” would rather chew on fiberglass than give the Big Red the Praise we SO Richly Deserve. Just an Addendum: the Mpls Star Tribune listed 10 Players to watch in this Weekend’s Tournament. NOT one of them from Nebraska.

So did Ty Berry win the NW sportsman award for his fine behavior while mocking KT’s celebration?

Here is the way I see how these folks made the selections.

    Criteria

    - What were they predicted to be prior to the season starting

    - What is the name on the front of their jersey

    - Who has the best stats on those jersey name teams

    - Time to throw in a couple Nebraska and Northwestern players, because they had a good season.  We probably should pick two

    - Let's add in a Rutgers player, because they weren't horrible

I guarantee you more then half of the Media selection committee has not watched a Nebraska or Northwestern basketball game unless it was against Purdue, Illinois, Wisconsin or Michigan State.

They have to give one to each player on the team.  Ty Berry couldn't have spent much time mocking Keisei as he was injured early in that game.

A little surprised the coaches valued Perkins as high as they did, and Ware as low as they did.  But suspect they know more about it then me, because, well, they're coaches.

These are the two non-Huskers that immediately jumped out to me, too.  Ware both filled the stat sheet (16 PPG, nearly 10 RPG) and had moments of dominance.  He routinely looked like the best player on the court.  Perkins on the other hand... I had to go back to his stats to see if maybe he put up great numbers, because I never was that impressed with him using the subjective eyeball test.  He did finish the year with a 2.5 assist/TO ratio, which is something that I could see coaches valuing.  Maybe that's why the coaches loved him?

I'm surprised that Gary didn't get an Honorable Mention from the coaches.  His ability to do literally every skill on a basketball court seems like something coaches would value.  Also wondering if he received any votes for DPOY.

I can understand why he didn't make the Media's list though.

I don’t really believe in karma, but even though I wouldn’t wish anyone to be injured I have no problem with Schadenfreude. 😁
