brfrad Posted January 15, 2016 Report Posted January 15, 2016 Excellent detective work. Illini were obviously hung over for the first game. Seems like a quick turnaround for those days. Must have hitched a ride with Lindberg. I should have mentioned both were on the road. I think coach might have loosened the reigns on the boys after the 1st game. Quote
Huskerpapa Posted January 15, 2016 Author Report Posted January 15, 2016 Hmmmm. "There’s not much Nebraska does on either side of the ball particularly well or poorly, although it is a team prone to turnovers and one that will rebound at a decent rate on both ends." http://www.dailyillini.com/article/2016/01/illini-mens-basketball-must-avoid-letdown-against-nebraska-following-big-win-over-purdue Quote
49r Posted January 15, 2016 Report Posted January 15, 2016 That was a pretty optimistic little article. Quote

hskr4life Posted January 15, 2016 Report Posted January 15, 2016 Honestly we both seem to be in the same boat. Them after a big win over PU and us with a few nice blowout wins. We both still believe that we can make something out of this season but that this game is a must win to continue on that path in the right direction. Both of us know the other team is good, but they are not great and they are beatable. Both of us know that this is kind of a must win to continue on the right direction considering THIS season. hhcmatt Posted January 15, 2016 Report Posted January 15, 2016 Somehow Illinois has less of an inside presence than us. Graduating Egwu and losing Thome isn't something you're going to fill well with Maverick Morgan and Michael Finke Quote

Sure we've had a couple of games where we've been brutally murdered in the paint but overall we are a Top 10 team in terms of % of shots not taken in the paint and they don't really have "guys with post moves that work in the Sun Belt League" sort of post players. The odds of Maverick Morgan dropping 10+ points on us using the same move would mean that his teammates would need to pass the ball to him. Quote

49r Posted January 16, 2016 Report Posted January 16, 2016 I don't want to sound too cocky or anything, but that game was never really in question. But then again, any halfway decent team is going to be pretty much expected to win on the road against 1-5 teams. Bugeaters1, Silverbacked1 and jayschool 3 Quote
