PeLLLLini vs. RiLLLLLLey ...

i think it's fair to let riley bring his recruits in. we saw what miles did after he got petteway.

Not trying to diss you, but I've heard this argument from lots of ppl. First off, I hope you're right! However, he had his guys at OSU, and they were never great. Maybe our tradition gets us his recruits, but I'm not sold he will.

A new Chancellor with a football background is imperative.  Don't be shocked if Harvey's 6/30/16 gets moved up. Once this group swirls down the drain, we need to hire a competent AD, who hopefully will hire a football coach.  Until that all happens, it will be brutal. Empty seats galore next week.   We will be over a 20 point dog at home.  And next year the sellout streak ends.  Nice job Harvey, nice job Ginger.

Would love to be mediocre right now.

If there is a bright spot, the true frosh are playing really well for the most part

Stanley Morgan Jr. is very good, and it appears that Dedrick Young & Aaron Williams are promising defenders. The O-Line is a hot mess, though, and has been a big reason for the demise of the O. The secondary for the D has been a bit, uhhh-hmmm, inconsistent.

We have not really tried anything new on the O Line, and that surprises me.  We have two guys that played C2/C1 and B football in Nebraska starting on the O Line and yet we do not at least TRY someone else?  Baffling!

The fact that NU hasn't been able to get Jerald Foster ready to play is really hard to fathom. If he hadn't been a redshirt, I think he could have played last year. The lack of tackles in the program is a HUGE problem. There are 17 scholarship O-Line and most of them seem to be guards. Huh?!?

We have a lot of walk-ons in our two deep depth chart.  We have a great number of scholarship athletes who cannot sniff the field.  That tells me we have had a sh**load of misses in our recruiting.  Example...I can appreciate everything Ryker attempted to do today.  But when you have two of our recruited QB's who cannot break the two deep, and a third who couldn't beat them out and transferred...well that seems to be a problem.

We're ranked 39 right now, and haven't gotten a commitment in 6 weeks.  Good luck with that.

bo had 8 recruits signed last year at this time. riley has 15.

I don't think anyone had any recruits signed last year at this time.

I realize it's tough to do...I'm guilty of it...but you shouldn't let your hate for someone cloud your judgment when posting.  1.  We will not be a +20 point dog to Mich St...not even close actually.   We may lose by 20+...but the actual line...highly doubtful.  2.  The sell out streak would have ended years ago if we let it....and we wont let it end next year either.  We still do very well filling the stadium, and will continue to do so...but there were plenty of games I went to under Callahan and Pelini where there were quite a few empty seats.

The ranking system is a bit flawed...let's see where we end up.  Not sure how badly this terrible record and fan uproar will effect their abilities to recruit but I think we will end up with a top 25 class.  We shall see.  Per Riley we received a recruit today......can you post we have not won in weeks and we may be lucky enough to win sometime soon?

We will not be a +20 point dog to Mich St...not even close actually.

Yup, 4.5 point dog

Interesting....it could get ugly but Mich St also has shown they play to the level of their opponent.  I think we can have some success throwing the ball if TA gets healthy but I'm fully expecting Cook to throw for close to 500 yards if he wants to.

Nah, Nebraska fans will continue to show up and support their program.  Maybe a couple more 3-9 more seasons and you may be correct...but Riley won't last if that's the case and then the fans will come out in bunches for the new coach again.

Not sure you're right about that.

Never saw fans leave early in droves under the Bobfather or TO, for obvious reasons:  We rarely lost at home; (and there were far fewer seats to be sat in.)

Solich played a more mediocre brand of ball but we still had butts in the seats.

When futility started raising its ugly head against T Tech and Okie State during year 4 of the Callahan regime, you saw people streaming out of Memorial Stadium like it was the HMS Titanic.

It takes longer -- a more sustained period of time with enduring feelings of futility -- for people to stop coming back than to get them to leave.  So, at the outset, people bail on a couple of Callahan losses but show up the next week for more punishment.

Had Callahan continued another season with similar results as his last, we probably would have ended the streak then.

But Pelini comes in and starts winning 9 games/year from the very get go.  And so the barrel of enthusiasm fills up a little bit.  Not as much as it was during the Osborne era, but it certainly recovers somewhat.  The fans and their willingness to hang in there and support the team by their presence is strengthened by some success on the field.

But it's still a bit tenuous compared to where it was 10, 15, 20 years ago.

The enduring controversy over Pelini's job security didn't help strengthen fan support.  And bringing in a somewhat-less-than-homerun-hire didn't rejuvenate fan enthusiasm the way Pelini winning 9 games his first season helped us with the post-Callahan hangover.

So the fan support remains, but it's lost its endurance.

And a season like the one we're having can certainly put that sellout crowd streak in jeopardy.

I already know at least one major corporate sponsor that has notified the athletic director not to call them any longer to buy up available seats in order to keep the streak alive.

If the fans don't start seeing glimmers of hope for the future, the streak is as good as over.

You know I wouldn't have a problem with the streak to be over.  Nobody cares about it but us anyway.  I am sure most non husker fans could care less if we still sold out every game or not.  It really is just us that worry about.

Kind of like last year when some went in and knocked a chunk off the rock at Clemson.  Nobody cared but them

Just my $.02 worth.
