FredsSlacks Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 if this was the nba, i would be worried about his height. dejuan blair was the best center in college basketball, and he measured 6'5 at the combine. hhcmatt 1 Quote
FredsSlacks Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 And, according to the Rivals profile page for Dickerson, Burno is not Dickerson's lead recruiter. https://twitter.com/huskerextrabr/status/598548912723615744 with the rosenthal confirmation, i have to think Dickerson would at least visit us as a favor to Burno. lanigan123 Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 If he doesn't want to play the 5, the. I can understand not recruiting him because Tim prefers a type of post that Ed plays. If he is open to playing the 5 then I recruit him hard. Go watch Ed'd mix tape and Noah's, completely different. Noah has legit post up moves and skills. To the true big man comment, it's about skills and size not just about size. While at 6 7 1/2 wouldnt be the tallest 5,, he has the body build of a 5. He has the 5 back to the basket skill set. Quote
Red Don Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 I am hoping we get either Max Bielfeldt or Noah Dickerson to fill our remaining scholarship. We may get neither (but should know something soon enough). Everyone has good points - we really know nothing about whether Dickerson is even being recruited. Player attributes aside, it seems to me the important thing is that we are not so talent-laden that if a player of his ranking and skills expresses interest we turn him away. Maybe more important is what we do know. We do know we have just hired a highly-regarded assistant coach and reported high-level recruiter. If we don't get either player this go-around, we'll have other equal opportunities in the future. Coach Miles has taken advantage of the unexpected departures (player & staff) as opportunities to upgrade his program. Slowly he is putting his building-blocks in place to achieve his goals. Quote

Timmy Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 All you have to do is a google search of Burno and Dickerson to find direct quotes from Dickerson that Burno was his lead recruiter. In fact, Dickerson even mentions that Burno is good friends with Dickerson's best friend's dad. Rivals is wrong all of the time on those assigned coaches. From this article: http://www.bigeastcoastbias.com/2014/4/9/5595764/q-a-with-georgetown-recruit-noah-dickerson From Florida there’s Coach Burno, and he is actually really really good friends with my best friends dad. From this article:http://www.onlygators.com/08/17/2014/pf-noah-dickerson-commits-to-florida-gators-billy-donovan/ “Coach Burno was my recruiter, and I talked to him all the time. He was always calling to check on me. The entire staff really helped recruit me; I talked to all the assistant coaches. They all made me feel like I was at home, and I became more confident in my decision,” he said.Read more: http://www.onlygators.com/08/17/2014/pf-noah-dickerson-commits-to-florida-gators-billy-donovan/#ixzz3aRPMMkx3 ONLY GATORS Get Out Alive AuroranHusker 1 Quote
Swan88 Posted May 18, 2015 Report Posted May 18, 2015 I'm rooting for Dickerson to get here. Really. But has anyone seen an indication in that direction yet? It could certainly happen. It makes a lot of sense for him to come here. But where is the impediment? He's been granted his release--a full one. Burno is official here--as in a signed contract and better-than-a-Rosenthal-tweet official. Why haven't we heard something? Hopefully, tomorrow is Dickerson's visit announcement day. hhcmatt Posted May 18, 2015 Author Report Posted May 18, 2015 I'm with you here. It's hard to really think anything right now. Some are choosing to take a more positive thought process and are assuming we are in on Dickerson until we hear otherwise and others are assuming Dickerson to Nebraska is unlikely until we hear differently. We will know one way or the other soon enough. Yup...this is one of those perspective deals because who knows if Dickerson even knows where he is going. There is zero advantage for us to mention Dickerson as a staff unless you know he's going to come here because you risk losing Biefeldt and potentially ending up with neither guy. Norm Peterson Posted May 18, 2015 Report Posted May 18, 2015 Honestly, I feel like for next year, the best option is Biefeldt. For long term and for the status of having another top 100 kid, it'd be nice to get Dickerson. But for W/L record next season, we're probably better off with Biefeldt. Quote

That is a valid point that MB for '15-16 is a "better fit," and the kicker is that Nebrasketball could get a 2016 'big' that could be an even better fit than Dickerson might be for this coming season. Another 'big' of substance is certainly is order for next year, who it is would be the only question at this point... Quote
Swan88 Posted May 18, 2015 Report Posted May 18, 2015 Robin Washut seems to think that Indiana is in the driver's seat for Bielfeldt because of their high ranking and recent dismissal of their starting post player. Quote
lanigan123 Posted May 18, 2015 Report Posted May 18, 2015 It's highly U realistic to think we are "in it" for Dickerson, but I'm hoping the coaches are trying. What's better for next year, probably Max. I think starting 2-3 true frosh who can grow together would be beneficial long term. Quote

Nebrasketball needs a solid core going forward, if Noah is a part of the team 'great'; if not, there could be an unknown guy out there a la Leslee Smith that would be a serviceable big to provide a veteran presence (could be Bielfeldt or otherwise). On the 'unknown' front, Rashon Burno did mention that they're attempting to be "creative" with the remaining spot on the roster. Could be intriguing to find out exactly what that means when the time comes, whenever that might be! Minnesota_Husker 1 Quote
