I would say in that vid, watching Maia get back on transition defense, my supposition of his athleticism was probably accurate.  He's big and strong but not very fast or explosive.  Which, I mean, would have been OK here where we don't have many other options.  But he's not going to see a lot of floor time at Pitt where they actually have other bigs who are available to play.  Maybe he doesn't care about playing time and just wanted to find the place with the best likelihood of making the tournament.

Harris, OTOH, I have to imagine is most concerned about PT.  And when you have a situation like ours with a lot of potential PT on a team that has a lot of other pieces, but just not the big that he represents, that would seem an attractive option.

We'll have to see.  He's visiting?

Or he is going where he can get his first year of post- grad work paid for, in what he wants.

not a huge lineup but would be an exciting one.

And, off the bench?

Parker

Webster

McVeigh

Jacobson

Hammond

With 3 more guys between 6'-8" and 6'-10".... in all, 5 guys between 6'-7" and 6'-10" likely to be in rotation (if TH is in Lincoln for a yr).  Add in a 6'-6" Nick Fuller to the mix. Zucchini supreme. ;)

It seems he's going to want to showcase his skills wherever he goes, and with that you may have a problem with him being a total team player, but clearly from the video the guy can ball. We need scorers, we need a big.  This guy fits the bill.  I'd be happy to sign him.

He's a definite must get. I'd say it's fair to say he appears to be an upgrade over WP. I do not recall WP taking guys off the dribble!

By the looks of things, it's not even a close contest.

For one thing, Harris graduated in time to make a senior transfer; for another, he actually has some legit NBA aspirations.

we have an extra 1000 shots to go around with the loss of petteway, pitchford, smith, L smith, rivers, and moses.

that would be the first thing i'd tell the kid.

So, wait?  Let me get this straight...he doesn't have to sit out a year???

Right.  He doesn't have to sit out "a" year; he has to sit out two years.

But, then, under a rarely-invoked provision of the NCAA Rules, he actually regains a year of eligibility, giving him 4 years to play 2.

We're looking at him to upgrade our scout team and take Kye Kurkowski's place for the next 2 years and then give us two years of solid PF play after that.

So, that's the plan, Stan.

Any other questions?

He went to NC St out of HS, transferred to Providence, where he had to sit a year with standard transfer policies.  So he graduated in the 4 years which gives him the option to be a one year graduate transfer to pursue the dreams of the NBA to play with his brother.

I actually think it would be:

Watson

Webster

White

Shields

Harris

Wow, that would be a pretty small lineup.

Harris is a very skilled player, but if people are expecting him to come in and play like a traditional center, they are going to be severely disappointed (especially on the defensive end).  That is not his game  -  on either side of the ball.  His offensive game is not really suited to be a back to the basket guy.  He is a solid rebounder, but his numbers may be inflated by the fact that Providence had a lot of guys to box out and their system sends several guys to the glass.  Basically, Harris is a wing.  Is their enough room for another wing with Shields and White?

Diamond Stone committed to Maryland or someone other than us.  So, since we can't have him (apparently) I guess we'll have to scrape the bottom of the barrel and make do with someone who's not a true center.  Y'know, someone like a Walter Pitchford.  Except better.

Just because you play the 5 doesn't mrs. You have to br a back to the basket guy. That would be a very long lineup. 6'9", 6'7", 6,6",6'4" and 5'11". Tim would be able to play more true motion offense, also would probably play more up and down.

What's the other option start Hammond at the 5?

Plenty of room for a one year guy that has plenty of talent.
