colhusker Posted March 20, 2015 Report Posted March 20, 2015 At least two games were lost yesterday by a teams inability to simply make their free throws. I know practice times have been cut by the NCAA, but good lord, how hard would it be for a kid to take a ball and shoot a couple hundred free throws each day. Quote

Doesn't even need to be at a formal practice. Just go shoot. Or practice post moves (cough, Walter, cough, cough). Purdue had that game won. Up 7 with like 46 seconds to play. I'm still in disbelief. Huskerpapa Posted March 20, 2015 Report Posted March 20, 2015 ...it is easier to get into rhythm practicing 100 free throws in a row in a gym during a quiet time versus in a NCAA tournament game that you have dreamed of your entire life. That said, given the status and level of expertise these players have, that shot should be much more automatic than what it is for many. When I played...we were never allowed to simply walk up to the line and shoot free throws. We would run a set of lines, than shoot five free throws...another set of lines, then another set of free throws, et al. Every practice ended that way. We were a very good free throw shooting team...not saying that helps, but we were convinced that it did... Quote
49r Posted March 20, 2015 Report Posted March 20, 2015 Jon Octeus, a 75% free throw shooter, missed 3 free throws at the end of that game last night that would have sealed the win for them. Quote
Nighthawk Posted March 20, 2015 Report Posted March 20, 2015 lol..I can say for the record that I cannot make a freethrow to save my life when I am standing on the basketball court in front of a sold out facility. About 20+ year ago...I was in the student section and got called out at one of the time outs to do one of those freethrow shooting games at the Bob. I stood there in front of a packed house...dribbled a few times...relaxed...threw the ball up towards the hoop...at not only did it not reach the rim...it went right under the net. I think I might have grazed the bottom of the net. colhusker, Silverbacked1 and Noah121 3 Quote

Handy Johnson Posted March 20, 2015 Report Posted March 20, 2015 LSU I believe missed 8 in row down the stretch, now they're back at home. Thanks for keeping my bracket alive Bayou Bengals! Quote
Red Don Posted March 20, 2015 Report Posted March 20, 2015 IIRC, wasn't it our 'Dead-Eye' FT shooting that helped to ignite our late season run to the tournament last year? I read a good comment about the Purdue/Cincy game. Why didn't Purdue foul the Cincy player who made the lay-up to send the game to OT? It seems there was time and positioning to do it before he made the lay-up. It would have put Cincy in the position of having to make the two FTs to tie the game instead of an easy lay-up. Adding to the pressure on Cincy the FTs would have been one and one. Quote
Bugeaters1 Posted March 20, 2015 Report Posted March 20, 2015 I've got two words. Shimmy and Shake Maybe he is reacting to the news that the SHIM SHAMS were going to perform at halftime. Silverbacked1, Miles ahead of the rest, Noah121 and 1 other 4 Quote
jimmykc Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 Can anyone post a look at Harold Miner's freethrow routine? I remember seeing "Baby Jordan" play at BDSC and he put the ball around his body a few times before shooting as I recall. Quote

trickey Posted March 23, 2015 Report Posted March 23, 2015 Thanks, trickey, and as an added bonus, I got to meet an older Russian woman. So, how was it I assisted with this older woman? Was a Russian porn site embedded in my video? or something sweeter? Quote
