This really makes me feel like a duphus and I'm thrilled about that.  After several games in of our conference season of watching us and watching a pretty fair amount of Big10 games besides ours, I had come to the conclusion that we were way behind most of the conference in quality players ( 2 pretty good ones and a bunch of one trick pony's and limited offensive gamers ).   Yea that was right about when "Us Always" got going and put on the most incredible conference run in my lifetime.  Miles meshed our guys into a savvy, successful unit... a thing of beauty you might say.   Guys just totally buying into their roles and making us win.   I'm still hoping we can add a few pieces to continue to make us better for next year.  Although you hate to upset the apple cart too much.

Make no mistake about it.  We have talent.  It's not like we took a bunch of nothings and nobodies and turned them into an NCAA tournament team just from buy-in.

We have two guys -- Petteway and Shields -- who can challenge teams by getting to the rim and finishing.  And not just two guys but two TALL guys -- 6'6" to 6'7".  And then you add to that a guy like Walter Pitchford who MUST be accounted for on the pick and pop, and that opens up driving lanes for the aforementioned Shields and Petteway.

We have some guys with tools and we have role players who have accepted their roles and have risen to the occasion.  But it would be a mistake to think we don't have talent because we certainly do.

Miles & Co. are phenomenal coaching 'em up to their fullest potential.  Nebrasketball has never been in better hands, IMHO.  The "Us. Always" togetherness is a thing of beauty in every sense, basketball or otherwise.  Gotta come to expect that whatever roster transition may be made will be wisely conceived, developed & nourished to become a fruitful contribution to the team concept. The basketball renaissance of this state is exhilarating. Love Nebrasketball~!

When I watch Pitchford, I think he will end up having the best career after Nebraska.

He can play inside when needed and is absolutely one of the best 6'10" shooters I have seen.

I think he will have a long career after Nebraska, maybe never a star, but always making a roster and cashing a lot of checks.

A Big Time point guard and a legit #5 will make this a VERY scary squad. One of them might be on the roster already, we'll see. A true Center though, rare as they are, would make everything fall into place...

he seems like a guy the spurs would draft/stash, we'd forget about him, and one night when Timmy D (he still has 3+ years left, with the way pop is resting him) needs a rest Walter will pop up score 25 going 5of5 from 3 in the corner...just seems like a Spurs kinda guy

i think so, i mean he does something really well...shoots 3's which the NBA loves, and if you can do that one things really well, plus mix in one or two average things, and you understand your place on the team i think it could happen, id say more likely he spends 5 or 6 seasons overseas making some cash, but it wouldnt shock in the slightest to see walter float the NBA for 10-12 years just making corner, and top of the key three's out of nowhere

Channing Frye has made an awfully nice career as a 6'11" shooter. Walt needs some polish but he will be a mismatch for teams no matter what level he is playing

That's a really good comparison. Watched Frye here at U of A and now with the Suns and I can see the similarities
