I feel bad for Iowa...

Trey D & Mike (0-fer ten tonight) Gesell, are joined at the hip... Trey D probably did make a good choice for his game, since it seems fairly likely that he'll replace Mike G for a bunch of the PG minutes next year.

 

As far as this year (of what's left) Fran McC better figure out how to shrink his "whole-roster" rotation, or Iowa will have flushed their entire season completely down the drain in these last several weeks.

I don't see Iowa getting better next year...I think Fran is not a top quality coach and it really shows.

 

Collins worked his ass of this game, willing his team every possession...and you see Iowa consistently guard shooters with hands below their wastes.

 

If Collins coached Iowa this year, they would  be a top 15 team right now....If Fran coached Northwestern, they might be winless in the big ten.

If we've learned anything from this season, it's that for seeding purposes it is much better to be good in November-January and suck in February and March than the other way around.

 

Which makes no sense if you think about it.

They are sucking right now just about as much as Iowa is, and they're "safely" in.

 

It's perplexing.

 

Meanwhile, we're one of the hottest teams in the nation, have a better RPI, and we're sweating sunday.

RealtimeRPI has us at 41 and Iowa at 51.

 

ESPN RPI has us at 41 and Iowa at 53.

 

CBS Sports has us at 41 and Iowa at 61.

 

I gotta think they're on the bubble at best and have probably played their way out. 

 

And because Ohio State won yesterday, a loss to them today would not seriously affect our rpi.

 

Just because you're considered a lock at the end of January doesn't mean you can lay an egg the rest of the way and still be in.

Not me.  I sincerely pity them.  Must really suck to be an Iowa fan right now.

Iowa is a dumpster fire, but I am impressed with Collins at NW.  He has very little talent and won some nice games this year.  The quality of coaches in this conference is incredible.

Bad chemistry has a way of festering.  If Iowa doesn't get things figured out in the offseason, they could easily find themselves a bottom half team next year.  PSU loses Frazier and Purdue loses the elder Johnson (and possibly Hammons if he leaves early), and Rutgers is just plain aweful.  But other than those 3 teams, I can't think of anyone that I would confidently pick the '14-'15 Iowa squad ahead of.  All of that talent on their roster, and they could find themselves in the NIT this year and 8th or 9th out of 14 in the B1G next year.  If that happens, then bye bye Fran.

Are people tweeting him or is he on here? Otherwise why would he know anything about what we are saying about Iowa. Kind of seems to be worrying a bit too much about us.

 

 

I'm sure he's getting hit with a lot of Twitter "trolls" right now.

 

 

I bet at least a handful of Nebraska fans tweeted at him that he made a bad decision.

If there is anyone on this board doing this, don't.  Miles didn't get Petteway by trolling him after he committed to Tech.
