Nebraska seems to do well at these voting contests because it gives the fans something to cheer about because the football team hasn't won a conference title for 14 years and winning another is doubtful as long as Bo is their coach.

Says you.

He's not the only one.

I think it makes NU football fans look bad nationally cause people in this state get so worked up over things like internet polls.  Most the country don't care about silly little games like this but NU fans take it so seriously.  Just my opinion.

Thanks cip, I'm losing patience with Pelini and would like to see a new coach.  Pelini's biggest weaknesses are his recruiting and performance in big games.  I realize that Nebraska is not in a great place geographically for recruiting but there is no excuse for the team's defensive performances in the ugly losses.  It makes you appreciate what TO did even more because he was ahead of his time and did thing the right way.

And who is it for us to say Bo isn't doing it the right way. I dont't know how old you are but at one point in To's career the fans wanted to tar and feather him as well. So IMO Bo needs some time to learn as TO did.

His behavior on the sideline has been scrutinized and is getting better,  I have heard about fans' displeasure with TO not being able to beat Oklahoma and it almost made him to decide to take the Colorado job but this is a different time.  Coaches are not given as long to meet expectations as they once were.  I don't see Bo's teams making enough improvement over the last few years to warrant giving him more "time."  This year will probably quiet the critics some because of the team's weak schedule but a likely blowout in the B1G title game vs. OSU will put a damper on the season.   This is my final post on the topic as to not litter this board with football discussion.

That would certainly be welcome, I'm sure.  But since this is an OT thread and it's the off season, I don't think it's terribly inappropriate discussion to have.  Some people are frustrated with him, others take a more pragmatic approach to the results he's achieved.  I mean, for heaven's sake, imagine how Iowa fans feel about their 23 million dollar man these days.

But we would be interested to see you add some of your own input on some of the hoops threads.

"He can't win the big one" was the rallying cry for TO critics from 1973 until 1994. Below is TO's first 5 year career record. The results for those first five years for all games, conference games and our finish in the 8 team conference.

Bo's results are very similar....It took TO until 1978 before he beat OU the first time...and then he lost to them a month later!

TO's record was made in a conference that had only two heavyweights (and we were sucking hind tit in these years... OU 5  NU 0).

When a school takes the attitude that coaches should not be given more than 4 or 5 years while they have been winning 9 or 10 games...then they will fire Bo... and TO as well...but those same schools better be ready to change coaches twice a decade...and they should not expect a crystal collection unless they are in an extremely rich recruiting area.

It seemed like it took TO ages to switch to speed from bulk on defense....it took about 15 years before the Miamis of the day convinced TO that old school would not cut it....and several more years more before the shift in recruiting resulted in the changes that reaped 3 trophies.

Bo is flipping switches quicker than that.

There have been many things about Bo that rub me wrong (sideline demeanor is #1)...but he is growing on the job. Considering the disaster that proceeded him, he deserves much more time as he is growing into the job.

Tom Osborne head coaching record for his first 5 years:

1973   9–2–1 4–2–1 T-2nd     1974   9–3 5–2 T-2nd       1975   10–2 6–1 T-1st       1976   9–3–1 4–3 T-4th       1977   9–3 5–2 T-2nd
