Huskerpapa Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 This may have been seen by some of you...but since it appears to be open to public view, I thought I would share this little overview. http://ohiostate.scout.com/2/1305756.html Nebrasketballer 1 Quote
ajb5856 Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 My god this is exciting to read. We definitely have a few pieces this year unlike any we've seen in quite some time. Should these pieces fall into place we might be looking at a real special season. At this point I'm trying to keep my expectations as low as possible. We keep hearing about how athletic Petteway is. If this team gels and some of the new guys can step in its gonna get real exciting. Quote
Nebrasketballer Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 Yeah, all things seem to be pointing towards the team being centered around Petteway, Pitchford, and Sheilds. All three are only sophomores, so not only will it be exciting this next season, but it will be exciting to see them play together for the next few seasons. Norm Peterson 1 Quote
jimmykc Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 I was confused by the thread title at first. Walter Dukes, Walt Frazier, and Walt Wesley were the first names which came into my mind.. Hopefully Pitchford will be able to surpass them by the time he leaves. Quote
uneblinstu Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 Invoking Durant? Really? Let's chillax on that. Nebrasketballer 1 Quote

Walter Cronkite was the first name that popped into my head...I'm pretty sure Pitchford will be able to surpass Cronkite in basketball ability by the time he leaves. Quote

hhcmatt Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 Invoking Durant? Really? Let's chillax on that. If Pitch has any sort of outside shot, watch out! If he can defend nearly as well as Ubel that is a major upgrade at the 5 Quote

If he can defend nearly as well as Ubel that is a major upgrade at the 5 That's different than saying "his game compares to Kevin Durant". That's a reckless statement. He may be very skilled, but let's pump the brakes a bit if we're thinking he's going to be that big of a boost. Quote

It's definitely a head scratching comparison..the sort of hyperbole reserved for five star HS players. He might want to play like Durant but he certainly would have received more playing time if he could play like Durant. No idea if he can put it on the floor nor if he can make that shot he likes to take. He would be a matchup nightmare for teams with a traditional center if he can. Quote
jimmykc Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 Dag nab it. I was going to embed something by Walter Brennan at this point, but my stupid Ebay won't let me. Now there was a Walter! Quote

He actually says, "We are not saying he's as talented as Durant, not even close, but the style of his game compares to what Durant does so well." Quote

Either way, I was unaware of his ability to play SF. Felt good reading that. Quote
