nebrasketball10 Posted August 16, 2013 Report Posted August 16, 2013 First top 150 recruit as rates by Rivals.
TheKamdyMan Posted August 16, 2013 Report Posted August 16, 2013 First top 150 recruit as rates by Rivals. that is correct. Hammond is 139 on Rivals, Fuller was 145 on 24/7, and Webster was a top 150 guy on ESPN. I wont really be excited though until we are getting guys that are top 100-150 etc on EVERY database. GATA Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 I can't wait to click on this thread and see actual Gilmore news...
huskerbaseball13 Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 I'm not so certain Gilmore is a high priority for us right now. If he was I think we would have already lined up a visit. Appears we have a few prospects higher up on the board.

Appears we have a few prospects higher up on the board. It's hard to know for sure but things will become clearer for us as fall moves along. There are always prospects that we don't even hear of and it's hard to tell where we sit with the ones we do know about. You've also got guys like Bolden, and if you've got a chance with a prospect that's as highly regarded as he is, you feel alright about things. Who knows, Gilmore may still be a priority for us and maybe not. It's pretty encouraging if the #89 rated prospect is not a top priority anymore and Miles feels we are sitting pretty good with some better recruits.

Appears we have a few prospects higher up on the board. Wacker might be our top priority. Wacker isn't as highly rated as Gilmore, but his offers are just as good. Miles said he wants 2 big men, so it is very possible that Gilmore isn't a top priority since he is more of a small forward.
The Coach Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 It's more that Gilmore's position isn't a priority right now. Between Shields, Petteway, Fuller, and Rivers, we're pretty set at the small-forward position for the next couple of years. We need another big man first. Then you have to decide if Gilmore is worth pushing someone out. Despite his Top 100 Ranking, I'm not sure he is. Bolden might be. But does Gilmore's skill set offer something that the 4 guys mentioned above doesn't? Not really from what I've seen.
huskerbaseball13 Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 Coach that's probably how I should have stated it. Gilmore would obviously be a nice prospect to have but I think we get another big. And that's fine by me.
bobcat402 Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 jeeze at least were back on topic....sorry for stirring the board up with my apparently audacious comments
uneblinstu Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 The Creighton inanity moved to the College Basketball conversation. You all can throw your tomatoes at Creighton Fan over there. Probably should have cleaned it up sooner, my bad. Carry on. hhcmatt, bobcat402 and Silverbacked1 3

The only thing is those guys outside Fuller will be Juniors and Seniors when Gilmore gets to campus. Also after watching him this summer I really feel like hes another Shields type of player. Though he's top 100 he spent the last two years playing AAU with 3 5 star players so he doesnt need to be on a team centered around him and he's good at giving up the ball. I watched a game this summer of his on tv and he passes very well for a HS junior and can move without the ball. These are things a lot of top rated players have trouble with making the transition to higher levels. He basically been relegated to that already during his summers then on his HS team gets the opportunity to become the man again with his other skills in the bag. That said Im all for whatever Miles chooses but I personally like Gilmore over Wacker if it came down to the two of them. Cookie Belcher 1
ShortDust Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 I also like Gilmore over Wacker. Count me in the Gilmore over wacker group. Granted we need bigs, but like kamdy stated Gilmore's going to be a good one and was good playing with 3 5*s

It could be that Miles actually wants a pair of "true centers" but its more likely that he just wants anyone with some height that can better the team. I don't think coach will take Wacker over or instead of another prospect that he thinks can help the team more just because Wacker is a true center. Now we may take Wacker, but it won't be because we had our pick between him, Gilmore, and Bolden (if they all wanted to come here). Or we may take Wacker and an additional guy as some have speculated that we will over sign. I guess what I'm trying to say with my rambling is that I would be surprised if Wacker was our top priority right now.
The Coach Posted August 19, 2013 Report Posted August 19, 2013 If Wacker isn't a top priority, would we be bringing him in for an official visit in August already? I have a feeling when he sees the new arena and facilities he'll want to commit on the spot like Hammond. If Gilmore is a bigger priority, I think we'd bring him in first. I haven't seen film on Wacker, but I think some of you are underrating him. His offer list is just as good as Gilmore's, and if he's anything like his dad (who is also his coach, so there's a good chance he is) then he is a player we want on our team. Silverbacked1 1

You only have 2 maybe 3 spots that you'll sign but can have 12 official visitors per year. Might as well bring in a guy that you would take if plan A should fail. That way hes already been to campus and you wont be playing catch up at that point. Nebrasketballer 1

ajb5856 Posted August 19, 2013 Report Posted August 19, 2013 Anybody taking notice of the battle between Creighton fan and Nebraska fan on twitter complete with a sales pitch on why Gilmore should go to Creighton versus why he should come to Nebraska? Pretty pathetic.
ShortDust Posted August 19, 2013 Report Posted August 19, 2013 Anybody taking notice of the battle between Creighton fan and Nebraska fan on twitter complete with a sales pitch on why Gilmore should go to Creighton versus why he should come to Nebraska? Pretty pathetic. I have to agree, the kid is just getting bombarded by tweets about it. Leave the kid alone and let him decide for himself. Granted I don't want him to even think about going there, but if that what he feels will be his best choice then its his choice. I want him to come here for a visit and see what he thinks about not only the football game environment, but what it will be like for a basketball game too. Having him here the weekend of the scrimmage? Maybe keep talks going with Bolden and bring him along too. One can only hope...
Silverbacked1 Posted August 19, 2013 Report Posted August 19, 2013 I even do some dumb things once and awhile, but even I know that some high school doesn't want to see my tweeting him to come to the school I like. Might actually turn them away from even coming for a visit.

Might actually turn them away from even coming for a visit. Agree. I don't think tweeting these sales pitches at him can help the school's chances. I guarantee that the respective head coaches and their assistants have gone through every one of these facts and a thousand others about their schools. It's not like Gilmore is gonna read the tweet and say, "oh yeah, totally forgot, Nebraska is in the B1G and its the best conference in basketball, totally forgot. I'm sold!".

Yep, the coaches have everything already implanted into the recruits heads that I think the tweets at them can be annoying. Some are ok, but the all out pitches are obnoxious.
