Coming out of high school in Wisconsin, Paul Jesperson was a Rivals three-star, rated 136th on the Rivals 150 list, with a boat-load of offers from the likes of Arizona St., Iowa, Minnesota, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Oregon St., and Wisconsin--along with Colorado St.

Scout said, he is "one of the best shooters with range."

Seems like a solid 3pt shooter, but he doesn't do much else.

He was starting for Tony Bennett, so he has defensive discipline.  I think he'd be a very quality addition.  In terms of realistic targets since the start of the Miles era, he should be viewed near the top of the list at this point.

Im not sold on the guy.  I guess i expect more from a starter from a high level ACC program.  His numbers werent much better than Benny Parker's.

While recruiting rankings don't really mean squat, being a top-150 recruit (and a good shooter to boot) suggests he's much better than Parker ... not that I think you're implying that.

Perhaps he didn't fit the system as well as he hoped?

He seems to be a Ryan Anderson type of player. Check out this description of his game:

"What the numbers don't show is Jesperson's basketball IQ. We all know Tony Bennett's defense relies on players being in the right place at the right time. Paul was always there. That is why he got so many minutes, and that is the part of his game that will be difficult to replace." And: "The sophomore played forward for the Cavaliers this past season, but only averaged 4.7 points and 2.2 rebounds per game while averaging 25.7 minutes. At 6'6, he is often listed as a guard during written recaps of the game, but roster injuries often forced Bennett to play Jesperson at forward."

Pretty inpressive offer list.  Also, he might have a good relationship with Miles, since he offered him a scholarship at Colorado St.  Still seems odd that Nebraska would go after him and Herbert, if there is only 1 scholarship (assuming no one leaves)...Rivals150 player though...Nebraska might not be in a position to turn a 150 player down.  I wouldn't mind Nebraska getting both Jesperson and Herbert, but I don't know that I would be fired up about taking him instead of Herbert.  Herbert has the 6'10" that you just can't teach.  This is a little bit different from Tummla, because he has to sit a season.  I don't know that Nebraska is in a position to take a guy that has to sit, instead of a guy that can contribute right away (unless you take both and someone walks...).

Could it be that Jesperson is the back up plan in case Herbert goes elsewhere?

I would surmise that NU wants both of 'em to upgrade the overall talent of the roster.

I hope that you are right.  I would love to see Nebraska add a 6'10" "swing four" and a 6'6"-6'7" Rivals 150 Forward to the roster.  Then it will be all about signing a Center with the 2014 scholarship and Nebraska will be on their way to the top half of the conference

Only hope Miles & Co. can reel 'em both in... GBR!

The Miles connection apparently goes back to Jespersons brother played for Miles. Apparently they know the odds are against them but if it comes down to him in the pecking order he would probably accept the chance.
