hskr4life Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 This is an ESPN Insider article... I do not have it... can someone summerize what is said, if that is legal? Thanks http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/mens-college-basketball/rumors/post?id=4221 Quote
Neebraska Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 There wasn't much to it. Two more paragraphs after what you can read. Basically we won't be challenging for the top half of the conference but that a lot of coaches would have went 0-18 with the roster Miles had and we were in it late with some top 10 teams. Then gives a quick rundown on who we lost and who is back. Nothing earthshattering. Quote
49r Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 King's Court: Top 10 for 2013-14 7. Mediocre teams becoming good, bad teams getting betterI love picking sleeper teams. Not just in the NCAA tournament, but prior to the regular season, too. And please don't misunderstand: I'm not saying any of these squads are going to win the NCAA tournament. Heck, a few of them might not even make the NCAA tournament. But that doesn't mean they can't be sleeper teams, because I define sleeper teams as squads that will make significant strides in 2013-14. Nebrasketballer Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 Incoming point guard Tai Webster, a New Zealand native, is a likely starter. Wow. ESPN just loves this kid. They must have seen a little bit more in person than we have available to us on video. Don't get me wrong, I think Webster is going to be great, maybe one of the best players that Nebraska has had in a long time, but ESPN has had nothing but great things to say about him. They ranked him a 4-Star, said he would likely be a top-25 or top-50 player if he was in the US (or something like that), and now expecting him to be a starter as a true freshman...If Webster is as good as ESPN thinks he is, then Nebraska's turnaround could be alot more dramatic and happen alot more quickly than even those of us that wear the husker-goggles currently expect... I hope they are right! Quote
Handy Johnson Posted May 3, 2013 Report Posted May 3, 2013 I've said it before and will repeat it now. Cornhuskers win 10 league games, and return to the NCAA Tournament. Quote
jimmykc Posted May 3, 2013 Report Posted May 3, 2013 We'll win more because the rest of the league will be worse. Quote

I hope they are right! I read this and the first thing that popped into my head was that ESPN will soon be overly biased towards the SEC conference...and then I caught myself and laughed. Perhaps that makes sense, perhaps it does not. Quote
AuroranHusker Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 We'll win more because the rest of the league will be worse. However it happens, I hope NU makes enough noise to be top 6 in the B1G. It would be a huge step forward for the program in their 1st yr at PBA. Quote

Norm Peterson Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 We'll win more because the rest of the league will be worse. Hey, if that happens, I'll take it. Quote
Daledangdarn Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 Fans need to be cautious about next year and not have crazy expectations, I am predicting about the same record as we had this year. Quote
Huskerpapa Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 We will need to improve, if only by a few wins. At the very least we need the NIT next year. If we make it to the NCAA tournament, expectations will be exceeded. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 Yeah, gotta have some forward momentum. Quote
hskr4life Posted May 6, 2013 Author Report Posted May 6, 2013 Well one thing about it is... we can no longer say we have a 4* guy coming in next year as ESPN has droped Tai from 4* to 3* http://espn.go.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/school?id=158&_slug_=nebraska-cornhuskers Quote
Norm Peterson Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 With a kid who's already signed, I don't really look at their stars any longer. Now it's how he plays. And how good or bad he is doesn't depend on how many stars anyone gave him. Look no further than Trey Burke for an example of that. Now, Tai just has to come on campus and produce. And prove ESPN wrong. Quote
