Yeah I know he did win the conference this year, but he almost got canned last year.  Don't think anybody would be complaining as much if they did fire him last year.  Also doesn't help that the top AAU coaches in California all hated him and were telling there players not to go there.

To put his into a better basketball perspective, Moe Iba was not forced to step down because he finally got NU to the NCAA tournament. Sometimes these decisions are made well before the end of the season, and a coach's success just makes things more complicated.

That was USC's reason for firing Kevin O'Neill mid-season.
