It’s really remarkable from game 1 to 14 how much essegian has bought into the defensive concepts and just the effort needed to stay on the floor. Goes 0 for 6 from 3 on 6 pretty good looks but yet his biggest impact on the game may have been how he effects spacing just by being on the floor.

This is so important and most people wouldn’t realize it. His ability to spread the floor and keep a defender attached to him is crucial for Brice and Rollie. Keisei was able to do the same, but Connor has already shown he can improve as a defender! He continues to be a better get that I thought he would be.

Jacob Bigelow made a comment on the X as to why Fred kept Connor in the game if wasn't making shots. I replied for the same reason Fred didn't take Keisei out last year.

The Ulis minutes are starting to look worse and worse as the season goes on. He needs to be better than 0 if he’s playing back up pg mins.

Interesting disparity from this one. Wasn't a good night for smaller guards against that team.

It’s interesting in that our biggest offense production was from guys who were basically in the negative. I think this is another stat that just points to us needing to lock down on D. We aren’t going to “score” with the best of them.

Williams and Gary are almost always going to have a +/- that somewhat reflects the final score because they're on the court nearly the entire game if not in foul trouble.

However, yes they both have regressed on defense from last year in my opinion.

Would of really of like to see GG get some minutes in this Iowa game.. Give him a shot the guy can shoot and it was a decent matchup for him.

I kind of wonder about that.  If he can make threes that would spread the floor quite a bit.  Although it seems like defense is our major concern now.  But, offensively it does seem like we have to work a lot harder just to get open looks.

I just don't see him playing much the rest of the season unless there are some major injuries.  Coach is obviously not comfortable putting him in a conference game that is still close.  He is struggling on offense and is a defensive liability.  The potential is still there but you can't wait for that to develop at this time of the year.
