This is implying that the gameplan was for him to only get 10-15 minutes. Which is incorrect. He clearly was projected to play a significant amount more. He played 11 minutes and nearly fouled out. They couldn't keep him on the court.

I highly doubt Nate Loenser thought Meah was going to guard Kalkbrenner for 20 minutes and not get in any foul trouble. That would be pretty wishful thinking if he did.

Gavin Griffiths is another little surprise at his season and the CU game +/- and I think shows that you can't strictly go off of +/-. I still have hopes for him though that he'll find another level of gear and hustle.

I never would've thought in the off-season Gavin would be one of the first guys being eeked out of the rotation.  His physical tools are a match made in heaven for Fred and our system, but he looks lost out there.  Maybe Wednesday's game will be a "figure shit out" game for Gavin and they play him 25+ minutes.

Gavin seems like he is playing not to make a mistake so he doesn't get pulled right away.  He is playing tight instead of not worrying about making a mistake.  I think if he has one breakout game like Conner just had at Creighton, he will look like a new player and be able to contribute more this season.

When did I say that? What are you even arguing? He got to 11 minutes with 4 fouls. It's pretty clear the goal was to get him to more like 15-20 minutes.

He just needs more practice time and minutes in these lower competition games we have coming up. He's thinking too much out there.

I'm not arguing. Two things can be true at once. I agree with you the staff very well could have said "man it would be great if we could get 15-20 minutes out of Meah guarding Kalkbrenner." And the staff may then also have said "But with how physical we're going to ask him to guard and with how many touches Kalkbrenner is going to get, it's highly likely he gets in foul trouble and doesn't make it to 15-20 minutes. But that's why we have Andrew and Berke."

And to me that doesn't mean Meah didn't play well or didn't do his job for this game. He was out there to be an enforcer and muck it up and if fouls were called, so be it.

And I only responded because you said his +/- was misleading. He was +3 in 3 games played on the season coming into Friday, which was the worst on the team. So +9 for him against Kalkbrenner and Creighton even in just his 11 minutes is pretty good for him.

That's all I was saying. I still don't want him out there a whole lot. When I said he "easily had his best game as a Husker" it was quite a bit of sarcasm because of how bad I felt he's been leading up to this point, partly due to his own play and partly due to what we were asking him to do offensively. I apologize if that didn't come across. I was just trying to give him some semblance of a compliment while I could as I've been pretty hard on him so far.

In my humble opinion, less is more with Meah. The fewer minutes he plays (10-15 max) and the fewer times he touches the ball offensively, the better the team we can be.
