I wanna say after one of our games… on the BTN post game show, he said something like “I would love to coach this team”

Yes, that's exactly what he said. He compared this year's NU squad to his team that played for a natty in 2018, the same year NU beat UM in Lincoln 72-52, but lost in NYC by 19... you know the rest of the story. Ughh.

I actually think Chris Collins deserved mentioned for COY before Painter...

That's what I wrote in this very thread this morning, assuming the two NU's shared the COTY award, tbh.

I am not upset at Painter being honored. Last I checked, coaches put their teams together and should get credit for meeting expectations with the great players they recruit. Also, Edey wasn't exactly a top recruit. 3 stars and not an overly impressive offer list and Painter developed him into a national player of the year.

Sharing the honor with that guy is good company for Fred.

Absolutely. 💯

This is what it means to be "Nebraska Nice."

FTR, I hate that slogan.

I'm sure HCFH could care less whether he won the award or not.

Interesting that all of these post season awards do the one thing I'm happy about and that is takes spot light off of us as a team or dim's the spotlight in the case of co-COTY. This whole season has been about the sum being greater than the parts.

Maybe if he had a better agent. Pretty sure Tim got paid for his.

"In Shannon’s complaint, his attorneys highlight the dearth of other evidence. 'The alleged incident occurred in a very public bar,' they note, yet police have yet to uncover any witnesses. Surveillance footage reviewed by police also allegedly doesn’t confirm that a rape took place, nor does it show Shannon and the alleged victim together."

Months later, with Shannon's recent acquittal, Norm seems to have been all over this, way back when.

False accusations happen. They ruin lives and careers. I don't know the details about the accusations against Terence Shannon, but I'm not willing to pronounce him guilty before he's had a trial. Until prosecutors have proven their case, it's just an allegation as far as I'm concerned. And I don't think he should be excluded from any post-season honors on the off chance he might be found guilty down the road.

And just bumping the thread in light of the acquittal, it was an interesting discussion then as well as now, and pretty respectful as to the different view points, especially as message boards go.

Sounds like the trial was rough for prosecution.  No evidence, text message sent about this possibly being about money in the girls group messages, no DNA evidence, etc.

Posted this in another thread.. but there was some evidence brought up where one of her friends texted her "Got him" or something like that with $$$ signs.

TSJ may be "Not Guilty," but I still have my doubts that equates to "Innocent," yet every time I see someone use 100% innocent, OJ Simpson case nearly 30 years ago comes to mind. Anyhow, jumping to conclusions never works out, so a lot of ppl probably owe TSJ a bit of leeway when they didn't give him any of that.

Give a lot of credit to the talk about who might deserve conference recognition in the conference recognition thread.

Looking back at this, I'm still a little pissed that Keisei didn't garner 1st team consideration, and Brice 2nd team. Nebraska deserved better representation as the 3rd best team in the conference. That's the travesty.

Our team relied on the group as a whole, rather than individual talent.  Sure there are counter-arguements to that theory; but I will take it as a medal for team first play.  The sum was greater than the parts.

That's true, but I think it's a disservice to the team's accomplishment to not recognize that other teams had to game plan for those dudes. At least Hoiberg earned Big Ten co-Coach of the Year, I suppose that's the acknowledgement of a great coaching job to get this team to 23 wins in 2023-24.
