Mr. Red Posted April 5, 2018 Report Posted April 5, 2018 Semi-OT I'd really like the decision makers at the University to offer their side to this controversy before I pass my own judgment. But knowing only what is available now, seems like a short-sighted decision on their part. I go to this Runza before most Husker football games for a tasty grease-pocket and fries. Never as good as home-made Runzas, but it's a Nebraska staple. What's next, replacing the Valentinos with a Sbarro's so Nebraskans can get an authentic New York slice?! Runzo location in the union will close this month: http://www.dailynebraskan.com/news/nebraska-union-s-runza-to-close-in-april-manager-says/article_0a9357d2-2326-11e8-bca2-4b1450ae2242.html To be replaced by Steak n Shake and Chick-fil-A: http://www.dailynebraskan.com/news/chick-fil-a-and-steak-n-shake-to-replace-runza/article_c159b478-38f4-11e8-a77b-9f967187af8f.html The President of Runza's response in a letter to the editor: http://www.dailynebraskan.com/opinion/letter-to-the-editor-runza-president-responds-to-unl-restaurant/article_95e28500-37ae-11e8-aff3-337ce37abf71.html Quote

HuskerFever Posted April 5, 2018 Report Posted April 5, 2018 Can we merge this thread with the other "why didn't UNL take the Warren Buffet Coca-Cola contract?" A vendor paid more and that's clearly what the UNL departments care about. Noah121 and HolyBobpilgrimage 2 Quote

Now this is completely a matter of preference. Me personally I would much rather have Runza. But I now live out in sunny San Diego and my access to those delicious concoctions are severely limited. I have eaten at all three. Steak N' Shake has a tasty burger. But I have been indoctrinated and would choose In and Out over it. Heck Culvers for that matter. I would definately choose Steak N' Shake over Runza for a burger. Now for the life of me I just don't get all the hoopla over chik-fil-a. It"s just O.K for me. I just don't get it But its a moot point because I rarely eat fast food anyway. Come to find out its not that good for you. Who would have thought? jimmykc, basketballjones and Bugeaters1 1 2 Quote

But what I don't understand is how The Cheesecake Factory has been on Lincolnites' most-desired-to-have restaurant list for the last 5 or so years. That place is atrocious. http://journalstar.com/entertainment/dining/lincoln-s-most-requested-restaurants/collection_b470c630-a076-5993-9fe0-032b2822ed6c.html Mr. Red and Ron Mexico 2 Quote

49r Posted April 6, 2018 Report Posted April 6, 2018 Cheesecake Factory is like dining on a cruise ship. Cheesecake Factory's menu is a novel. Cheesecake Factory is terrible. In general...people *love* the Cheesecake Factory. HuskerFever 1 Quote
jimmykc Posted April 6, 2018 Report Posted April 6, 2018 Wonder why the president of Runza was so gracious? Think it might have something to do with all those Runzas which change hands on a cold day at the stadium? Bugeaters1 1 Quote
