Couple others: NU has won six straight over PSU. ?

No team coached by a woman has won at national title. Florida is the only school in the final four that has a female HC. Don't know that it ends this year, but you have to think it will end soon.

In 36 years, the number of runners up that have never won a title:  7.

Considering that only 10 teams have ever won a title, this might be the craziest number of all the ones I've posted.

Ten teams account for ALL the titles and 29 of the 36 runners up.

That assumes that the 7 runners up that haven't won a title are all different.  Meaning they only made the final once each.  Is that correct?  If so, wow.

Wow.  When you throw out numbers like these, it is astounding and makes you marvel at just how strong our volleyball program is.  I almost just "expect" the ladies to make it to the Final 4 each year.  Coach Cook is a legend.  Nebraska volleyball is dominant.

Wisconsin has been bridesmaids a couple of times (including against John Cook's 1st NU team in 2000 -- undefeated, by the way -- when Cook had coached UW prior to '99).

Florida, Minny, Cal, Illinois, and BYU are all "1 time runners-up."

No, just that 10 teams have accounted for 65 of the 72 spots in the national championship match in the history of the sport.

The other 7 runners up could be the same team or all different teams.  Still, if you haven't won it all, you probably haven't come in second, either.

Texas has been runners-up a few times in the past decade (3 to be exact). Wisconsin a couple of times (including against John Cook's 1st NU team in 2000 -- undefeated, by the way -- when Cook had coached UW prior to '99).

Florida, Minny, Cal, Illinois, and BYU are all "1 time runners-up."

Only 16 different teams have ever made it to the championship match in NCAA D1 college volleyball history.

And that won't change this year.

[See my edit- I deleted Texas from the list, they've won it all.]

As it is: 5 of the 7 runners-up finishers are "1 time" only. Wisconsin is a 2-time bridesmaid.

Correct.  Like I said, only 16 different teams have ever made it to the championship match.

I guess what these stats say is that, in looking at it from the aspect of suspense, college volleyball is pretty damn boring.

Now, to return to the main topic of interest, what does Scott Frost think about the volleyball team?

Oooooh Jimmy, that's a dangerous can of worms you just opened.

I can't say what he thinks of the volleyball team, but apparently he used to kind of like women's basketball.

On an entirely unrelated note (other than jimmykc's assertions), Scott Frost has been named the 2017 Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year as voted on by the college football writers of America.

First non Power 5 coach since Urban Meyer I think.
