Oh No, get the lawyers on board!

Seriously, she played for Beck and Sanderford.  I went to a bunch of their practices.  Demanding and tough indeed.

OK it's time to settle down!  Amy Williams has been our coach for three weeks and we are deciding whether or not her coaching style will fit our players?  How about we keep a positive attitude and giver her at least a year to see how it all works out with in improving team chemistry which will have a big impact on how we do.

You're a little over-sensitive, HUD.  There is no negative attitude on this thread.  Just some ironic humor.

I think Amy Williams will be a coach whose style players readily appeciate. She's very fired up and enthusiastic in games.

Like any program in college basketball - men's or women's - it's about recruiting for talent and fit.

I've already written this about Connie, and I'm comfortable saying it: I thought it got away from Connie a lil bit after the Cady/Sample/Teara/Brandi class. She aimed for a lil more talent, got some poor fits, and, until Rachel Blackburn came along in this class, I think there were a few classes there where she didn't get a natural leader with some attitude on the court.

What interesting is, I think Britney Brown actually was a really good hire. I think she had things moving back toward what Connie built the program with -- athletes, hard workers, defenders. And Kathleen Doyle is a Lindsey Moore type. Britney got it.

Well, the next class just wasn't good, regardless of "fits".  Havers, Ramacieri, Tvrdy (was Murren in that class?).   No wonder after that mess Connie went for talent.  And thus perhaps some non-fits.   I don't doubt Britney was a good hire, but wasn't Doyle a Stephens recruit?

I hope "she's got" the names of a couple of good transfers who want to come here, or are considering it.  Sounds like we'll need them.  Esp a grad or a JC transfer that can contribute immediately.

coach williams interview:

12 out of the first 16 days were spent on the road---reaching out to some of the best players in the country (and will continue, of course)

stated she also spent quite a bit of time getting to know the players.

challenges: catch-up on players and recruits; believes recruiting is all about relationship building.

awareness of the circumstances within the program when interviewed: just had conversations about moving the program forward. starting with a clean slate. didn't really want to know too much about the past. stated players buying in is not a worry and feels very comfortable.

her personality: feels confident of what she brings to the table to move forward. confident staff can find the strengths of players.

has had discussions with all present players and incoming recruits. wants players that want to be at nebraska. said it was not difficult to get players to remain ( i will add, except one).

asked what she expects first season: answer, remains to be seen.

style: will have to adjust somewhat to the roster. has had top 10-15 scoring classes and excited to implement that at nebraska.

expectations of players: good work ethic and willingness to "get after it".

balance about being tough and demanding: need to add understanding and sensitivity

the end.

little comments by the hosts about why she didn't go after romeo harder, but, also added they don't know enough about the situation. one of the hosts stated he talked to someone who didn't think she will be able to succeed because of the staff she brought with her (ouch).

Think I'll wait and see on that one. That's a big leap in imagination, having not seen so much as a practice yet, let alone a recruiting class.
