  1. I was at the game and the one thing that really stands out to me is that their big man got ejected for throwing an elbow or something. Remember there being a long stoppage and nobody knew what was going on and then they announced a player being ejected. I also wasn't somebody who was overly concerned about the narrow win mainly because FGCU played everybody tight. They play about every defense in the book in a game and it really causes problems.
  2. I don't know about anybody else's wife, but if I had an opprotunity to make a lot more money, my wife would be perfectly fine moving. The thought about him moving would be he'd have a better opprotunity to win a National Title. Whether he could do that at Minnesota is up for debate. I agree with you about not everybody has to move up. I think there are probably some coaches that wished they would have stayed where they were at. But the shot at a bigger school sometimes is too tempting. However Brad Stevens made a wise decision to stay put at Butler. Now with them going to the new Big East, he didn't have to leave his school to go to a high level conference school.
  3. I don't think you can just dissmiss Shaka to Minnesota just because he turned down Illinois last year. The AD situation and him being from Wisconisn just has too many connections. Does that mean he is a lock to go there no, but it's not out of the question. I don't see Shaka going to UCLA. Personally I think they might have trouble filling that job because they'll go after a bunch of big names and probably get turned down. Expectations are too high there. I could really see them making a NBA hire. Heard Mike Brown's name getting thrown out. Bad move IMO, but could see them doing that.
  4. Can somebody help me out here..... I'm not getting the McDermott leaving early talk. He's a very very good college player, but I don't know how well his game translates to the NBA. He's only projected as a late late 1st round pick at best. Why would you leave early to be a late first round pick? Normally it's money issues, but that isn't the case here. Yeah his draft stock may be high, but he isn't going to get worse. Has he hinted at leaving early? I haven't seen anything. I just don't get it. Maybe I"m just wrong.
  5. I beleive Nebraska holds the advantage next year. Nebraska with the redshirts and incoming recruits improves the team significantly. Creighton loses Echnique (sp) and Gibbs which will really hurt. McDermott will come back but they'll still won't be very good because they lack that second scorer. Unless they sign an impact player they are going to struggle.
  6. Don't know if he'll get the job, but a name to watch for openings is Dane Fife. Did well at IPFW and now is an assistant at Michigan State.
  7. Not really a fair comparison. Duke has been wearing that exact same uniform style for as long as I can remember. Creighton just happened to have that style this year, and they probably picked it on their own. Does anybody know if Creighton is actually sponsored by Nike, or do they just wear Nike gear? I know that Wichita State has to pay for their Jordan jerseys because they aren't actually sponsored by Jordan. Wouldn't surprise me if Creighton is in the same boat; they're just given a list of jersey templates to choose from at the beginning of the year and then have to pay Nike to put "Creighton" on them. I don't believe Creighton or Wichita State have to "pay" to have Nike/Jordan sponsor them. Pretty sure they have a deal with the company.
  8. I'm glad that Creighton finally has the same design for home and away uniforms. They looked like that high school who only had enough money to get one set of new uniforms.
  9. Are you serious? The NCAA is overwhelmed. They can't begin to police this stuff. SEC cheating especially is rampant. Alabama scholarship football players are getting a minimum of $10k-$30k per year. Much of it is funneled through churches. It's totally out of control. You're telling me that six NBA-type kids in one year, all 5-star recruits, want to play at Kentucky, knowing how hard it will be to get playing time, in addition to the guys who are already there? That's really hard for me to believe. These guys are each getting $100k plus. You seriously think that Alabama is paying 85 guys $10,000-$30,000 a year? That's $850,000 - $2,550,000 a year at a minimum. Do you understand what you just said? Whatever your drinking/smoking you need to put it down. Yeah I'm telling you that good players want to go to a school where they can win, play for a year, and then go to the NBA. Yeah that never happens. Players only go where the money is. That means that Louisville must have offered Akoy more money than Nebraska could. I'm not going to argue with you Gov, because I honestly don't believe you're well informed about the issue of paying players in the SEC and elsewhere. I've been told too much from people who've been involved with this stuff to believe it's not rampant, and the info I have on Bama comes from a very good source. We had a football player transfer to Tennessee in the late-90s. You should hear what he had to say about what goes on there. I happen to know firsthand that Le Kevin Smith, the DT from Georgia, had to eliminate Auburn from consideration after they gave him a gold watch on his visit and he and his coach reported it to the NCAA. And that's just a very minor example. Some reliable Alabama info: Every player is paid, both up-front and on-going. Players with kids get more cash. If it can be given directly to them, they will do so, otherwise a popular way to funnel money is through the kid's churches and giving it to their family (church gets a little donation in order to "help out."). Known amounts vary between $10k to $30k. Every player gets something -- no exceptions. Most of the SEC operates the same and turns a blind eye to each other because they are all guilty of breaking the rules. The cheating in basketball is as bad or worse than what goes on in football. I don't think your as well informed as you think you are. Do some players get some money from boosters. Yeah. That's happen for a long time in multiple sports and it's well documented. But to think that boosters or schools are paying every single scholarship player at a school is just ridiculous. Alabama is getting so much talent because players want to play for a winning program, Alabama is sending tons of players to the NFL, and Nick Saban is one heck of a good coach. Is some funny business going on down there? I'm sure there is some, but to say that every single scholarship player is getting paid is just flat out dumb.

  11. If these guys were getting paid it would have been discovered already. You don't think that with his previous NCAA violations that the NCAA isn't watching the program like a hawk? Cal is a great recruiter and has proven that he can win and get players into the NBA. That is why all these talented players are coming to him. Not because he is handing out $100 bill handshakes.
  12. I enjoy the coaching carousel, but mainly seeing who goes where. Agree about guys getting fired though, can't enjoy that.
  13. Same here. Haven't seen a lot of it from Gaskins but I know Bogus rails on him way too much.
  14. On my phone now, so can't. But it's all about Gaskins ragging on Rey all the time.
  15. Anybody else notice the twitter fight going on between Rosenthal and John Gaskins?
  16. I'd rather stick with Adidas than Nike. But wouldn't have minded Under Armour. But Nike owns Converse...maybe if they switched to Nike Nebraska could get the voltage uniforms back?
  17. Personally I think this is just something out of character. I do know a few Omaha high school coaches that have met Crean and they said he was the nicest major coach they've ever met.
  18. Don't think you can call Matt Hill a failure at the BCS level. Didn't he have a couple of injuries that put him behind and then got over recruited? If I remember right, he was getting some good minutes before the injury. I think he was a better player than Elliason but never really got the chance to show it.
  19. Wow I only paid $25 and I graduated in 2006. I'd always get a buddy to sign up and then buy his tickets and have my dad go to most games. After validating the ticket for $6-$7 it was cheaper than season tickets
  20. Sounds like some schools back off of him for football because of grades and they felt that he wanted to play basketball. I think JUCO would be his best bet. Get the grades in order and show that you can play at the next level.
  21. My basketball only list would be.... Aaron Kraft JJ Redick DJ Bryd Casey Harrimon Cole Adrich
  22. The team started playing better because they got better. Shields and Rivers got better. Peltz would have helped out if not injured He's a walk on bench player who comes in runs the offense and plays solid D. No way that hurts the team.
