Not surprised by this at all. Personally I would have thought Petteway and Shields would be flipped. But in Miles motion offense I really don't think there is much of a difference between 3 and 4.

I guess I was surprised that more staffers didn't play at Firethrone. Seems like that's the place that I've heard most of them play. But who knows, they probably buy their own membership over there.

As ugly as those adidas zumba uniforms are, I would love Nebraska to have them in the future. Not because I think they are cool. But because the schools they gave those two are the top schools that wear adidas. That means Nebrasketball would be tournament team and a top half of the Big 10.

Coach Miles injecting life into the whole AD?
TheGov21 replied to 49r's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Bo's not the only one that has banned twitter for his players. A lot of coaches do it. Heck remember when Turner Gill banned his players from talking to girls at certain times? Heck even Miles has talked about how dangerous social media can be for college athletes. But he believes in educating on how to properly use it. -

I also remember when Bo had a LPD officer come into the locker room after the first spring game and said they were here to arrest Quentin Castille. It was for a hit and run he had earlier in the game. Like Kandy said before, he's soooo much different with his players than he shows to the media and fans. Heck I've even heard that he's really good with the fans in one on one situations. Contrary to what ESPN wants you to think, he's a players coach through and through. -
I've always believed that if Doc had more money to use on assistants he may have done better. It seemed like his initial assistants were his best he had. I remember he had the plan of redshirting guys when they first got here (Richardson and McCray) and try and win with fifth year seniors. But he couldn't keep those assitants and then had to go assistants who had foreign ties and then the JUCO route exploded.

I was going to say, because I remember seeing Wes Wilkinson being listed in the top 60 in Lindy's Season Preview

Arguably the top AAU programs in Nebraska are the Omaha Crusaders and the Bison All Stars. The Crusaders are mostly Omaha Metro kids with a few from the surrounding areas. The Bison are mainly Lincoln and other top players in the state. They do get some Omaha kids. Both of those two programs go to some major tournaments and play against some top teams. I remember I had a couple of teammates play for the Bison and they played in a tournament against Darius Miles and Quentin Richardson.

Nick Bahe of 'The Drive' on 93.7 The Ticket

You mean they took a break from NBA and Creighton talk to mention Nebraska basketball. That's groundbreaking. -
Just another reason to switch back to Converse

I personally liked Hilliard's quickness and athletism. But he wasn't a Miles recruit and got into trouble out in the community. Not a great thing to do when a new coach comes in.

Asst. Coach Ben Johnson to Minnesota
TheGov21 replied to joshvanklomp's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Yeah, I can see that. But if you get out the check book and pay him what he's worth, then you might have a coach who is qualified to make the step up to head coach if Miles ever decides to leave Nebraska. As we've seen several times, opening the check book isn't a lock. Just ask Minnesota and their offer to Shaka. No amount of money was going to get him there. And who says that Lue can't be an NBA head coach and then come back to Nebraska IF Miles ever leaves. He doesn't have to be an assistant to replace him. That's if he wants it. -
Asst. Coach Ben Johnson to Minnesota

Wanted to jump in. Hugh loss because he was a great recruiter, young, and seemed to really connect with the players. But can't blame him for going back home. I just hope that this isn't a sign of things to come with Nebraska losing good assistants again. Doc had some good assistants when he first came to Lincoln and then wasn't able to keep them. -
I'm not trying to be rude, but Peltz is a walk on. He's not taking up a scholorship and was probably brought on to help out this past year. His playing time will more than likely be pretty limited this next season. No need to shuffle him out of the program.
-
No Parker and no Rivers? If Peltz and Tyrance are getting any playing time next year, something went very wrong. Oh my gosh how could I forget Rivers. That makes me look like an idiot. Going back to my orginal post I'd put him with the rotation guys, but I wouldn't be shocked if he was starting....Heck I might even put him in there instead of Pettaway to start the season. As for Parker. No I don't think he leaves. But I do think he redshirts. He stronger and improve his game and then come back the next year. If he doesn't redshirt then I think he still gets some playing time, but not a whole lot. I've since gone back and edited my orginal post. Thanks for catching that guys.

Here is my prediction of the starting lineup for game one.... PG: Webster SG: Rey SF: Sheilds PF: Rivers PF Pichford Analysis: I think it's a toss up between Webster and Biggs at the point. I wanted to give Biggs the slight edge but who knows maybe he starts the season on a game or two suspension. This lineup gives the Huskers three slashers in Webster, Sheilds, and Rivers and two shooters in Rey and Pichford. Bench G: Biggs G/F: Pettaway F: Fuller F: Smith This is what I'm predicting to be the main rotation. Biggs can be the combo guard that gives Rey and Webster breaks. Fuller would play both the 3 and the 4 and provide another shooter. Smith is going to be the muscle to rebound, set screens and defend. Spot Players G: Peltz G: Hawkins F: Tyrance Peltz will play some as a backup PG, Hawkins will play some to provide more scoring and Tyrance will play a similar role that he did this past season. Come in in dire situations to play defense, eat up fouls, and give hustle. Parker I think redshirts to work on strength and overall game. Possible starting lineup at the end of the season PG: Webster SG: Rey SF: Shields PF: Pichford C: Smith

I understand that Penn State and Northwestern are getting their best players back. But I do think Nebraska should be more improved than them. I may be in the minority, but I wouldn't be shocked to see the Huskers above Minnesota and Illinois next year.

Being orginally from Columbus their gym isn't much better than the old picture of Grant Hall. What a great signing by Marty at Central (Or Platte College as I'm use to calling it). When I was in high school there the program was a joke. That coach retired and the coach that followed him tried to go out and recruit Chicago and got a bunch of players who ran into trouble. Now that Marty is in charge he's trying to make Central the top JUCO in the state. The best thing he can do is target players like Hollins and get them to come to Columbus and it looks like he is on his way. But the biggest issue is that Central CC has never had a player sign with a Division I school for a long time. Hopefully that can change here.

In my opinion Akoy made a good decision on going to a school that fits his style. Central and Louisville have pretty similar styles. They love to press and want to speed up the game. Akoy has length and is a good athlete. Like previously said, he probably won't make much of an impact as a freshman. He's still got a lot of developing to do on his offensive game.

I read that Pernetti wanted to fire Rice but was talked out of it...don't know how true that is

I could care less about Griner, but that 8th grader is quite impressive

No they do match ups based on making even match ups. That's why Nebraska has played Wake Forrest because they were one of the worst teams in the ACC. The only way Nebraska will play UNC, Duke or Syracuse is if the Huskers get better. Those schools will always face MSU, Mich, Indiana, and Ohio State. Although if UNC joins the Big 10, then they'll play them in Lincoln someday.
-
That would be a great thing for the program to do for Webster. I know a lot of schools have tried to schedule games close to players homes (if they came from a distance). I believe Kansas played a game up in North Dakota for Boschee.
