  1. I gotcha, yeah I can understand why you feel that way.
  2. Do you know some inside information? Because I didn't take anything from that article that indicate that Biggs is done with the team. He made a mistake and from all indications that was a one time deal. If anything he'll probably miss a couple of games at the most.
  3. Sharpe and Benning had a JUCO recruiting guy on this morning and was high on Smith. Much like you posted said he is a Big 10 player and will do a good job around the basket, rebounding, and setting screens. Said he's probably not a starter, but should really help out.
  4. I kinda thought the same thing. Didn't look to genuine. Hopefully it was.
  5. No idea with this guy. He was the lead candidate for the SC job before they went with Frank Martin since that is where he's from. He previously was at Winthrop in SC for 9 years....seems like he is an East Coast guy who has been living in Kansas for the last 6 years. He's never been hotter...not sure where he would go. I could be wrong, but I thought Marshall turned down the South Carolina job and then they went with Martin. Personally I see him doing what Shaka and Stevens are doing and sitting back and waiting for the "right" job to open.
  6. Coaches want players they know or are comfortable with. The only two players Miles kept from Doc's recruiting class were Sheilds and Parker. He knew Parker by recruiting him while at CSU and probably felt comfortable with what Sheilds would bring to the table. He also wanted to avoid the JUCO route but it became a necessity. We'll see how much he recruits the JUCO's over the next several years.
  7. Glad he was fired. It's one thing to yell and cuss (some may not agree) but to use homophobic slurs and throw basketballs is just ridiculous. The wost thing is that Eric Murdock (coach who brought this to everybody's attention) probably won't be a coach again. The bad thing is that other coaches are so loyal that they'll treat him like a snitch. Also heard that Seth Greenburg on ESPN was asked about this and he said something along the lines of he needed to see a full practice over a week period to say that this was more than a one time occurance. That's pretty bad on Greenburg.
  8. You go out and keep recuiting if things fall through. Heck there were a few college football coaches who were at dinner with recruits when they agreed to a new school. Personally I don't see Miles leaving. He had to know that the Minnesota job would be opening soon and decided to go to Nebraska anyways.
  9. Wow, what a great comparison of Collier to Hawkins. However Collier replaced Joe Sexson whose career winning percentage is .423 where Hawkins took over for Dirk Koetter who got that program going. But where I like the comparison is that the coach(s) that replaced them actually did better. Matta, Lickliter, and Brad Stevens at Butler and Peterson at Boise State
  10. Just a hunch, but I think they'll eventually hire Flip Saunders. It seems like Saunders wants the job and they may end up giving it to him after the coaches they have targeted have all turned them down.
  11. McDermott isn't 6'8. 6'6 is more likely. A Metro coach that I am friends with (who is a legit 6'5) has told me that Doug isn't much taller than him. Cool, thanks. I'm far from a Jays expert. I was just going by his listed height. Hard to argue that. All I can go with is trusting that my buddy (who is a Creighton loyalist) and his eye.
  12. I never want guys to lose jobs and feel bad for saying this, but they should fire Rush. Whether he was joking or not, you don't say that and then one of the officials there makes a contrversal tech call against him. Doesn't look good.
  13. Interesting, but not surprising move in my opinion. USC needs some excitment in their basketball program and with the talent in the state they are hoping he can bring "Dunk City" to Troy.
  14. McDermott isn't 6'8. 6'6 is more likely. A Metro coach that I am friends with (who is a legit 6'5) has told me that Doug isn't much taller than him. Cool, thanks. I'm far from a Jays expert. I was just going by his listed height. I figured you were. But there is a misconception about his height out there.

  16. I wonder who that could possibly be that the writer is talking about??? That's funny about reading Novels in the stands. When I lived in Omaha a couple of years ago my coworker gave me his tickets to a Creighton game. At the game a lady that sits in the seats next to his was reading a novel throughout the entire game. I asked him about this the next day at work and he said she does that every game.
  17. It's not that easy for most North Omaha players to walk on at a school like Nebraska. Even UNO.
  18. Lanny Holstein is also the producer for "The Drive" on 93.7. Yeah the Parker comment about battling for the PG spot was interesting. I'm not in the camp that wants Parker out, I see some potential that can help the team in a reserve role and maybe develop into a starter down the road. But I don't think he'll be starting next year. The battle for the PG spot will be between Webster and Biggs. Did anybody find the Talley chewing gum thing a little out of nowhere? Didn't get that.
  19. I knew the two were coaching together, thought bobby was the head coach
  20. Fair enough. That's why I said a little surprise.
  21. Yeah I know he did win the conference this year, but he almost got canned last year. Don't think anybody would be complaining as much if they did fire him last year. Also doesn't help that the top AAU coaches in California all hated him and were telling there players not to go there.
  22. Is anybody else a little surprised that Doc is interested in Tech? I know it's a Big 12 school and would be a good fit, but they did fire his best friend. Normally coaches are pretty loyal in these situations. Maybe I'm just off.
  23. I also think that Collins was a good fit for Northwestern. Like what was previously said, he is use to being at a private school with good academic standings. Him being from Chicago also really helps. Who knows, maybe he'll be similar to what Pat Fitzgerrald is doing with their football program.
  24. Talk about job hopping. Wasn't he just at Rhode Island for just a year? And before that was he only at Wagner for a year too?
