I can't disagree with this take more. Representing your country on the world stage is the highest career goal for many players. They're not about to give that up to play some college exhibition games, nor should they. I have a feeling if Keisei had to choose between forgoing international play or not returning to DONU, I don't think it would work out too well for us.

I am assuming both players negotiated playing for their National team as part of the package to play for good ol NU.. So I certainly do not blame the players. I am also of the opinion that we don't have the leverage or lineage that some programs likely have in order to say no.

In US news, our B/C team lost to Panama last night and was eliminated from the Gold Cup. I’m not 100% against us bringing a B/C team to the Gold Cup, but I would have liked to see a few more RISE to the occasion with their play. Wished we would have gotten Gaga a game in against a Caribbean Island team. You’re at a place for a finite time that is paying for your education, and now, legally, also paying you to be there. “Playing for your country is an honor!” Stop - you’re not fighting in a war or doing Red Cross outreach.
