  1. Here's what's confusing to me on this especially after this last independent investigation. If they found no wrong doing within the program, why did Illinois fire the assistant coach and then pay him $48,000 in hush money? By the way that assistant coach they fired spent the summer helping coach the Cornhusker Shooting Stars.

  2. Sorry, Norm... there's no "7 foot tall Russian beast" on the list. Well it looks like he's still working on the list. If I had to guess I'd say item #6 is going to be "Eat at 'Nebraska' in Madrid" and then #7 will be the Russian thing.

  3. So does that mean that all those parents are lying and have brought a false suit? Wow, this just getting weirder and weirder.

  4. I didn't know him but some Old-timers may remember Rex Swett from the early 60s! A resident of Lakewood, CO,he practiced dentistry in Evergreen, Co for several years, retiring in 1998, passing away on Sunday at the age of 76.. A natural athlete, he went on to win several senior tennis titles, a champion swing dancer with his partner and even won a national pool playing championship in the mid 2000's. RIP. Overseas trip specifics?

...of course he'll need to be careful in crafting #7. I don't think we need to see a "Foot tall Russian beast" on the team... man, I waited a whole day for someone to see where I was going with the post above...I guess it's not that good of a joke.

    Update on an old Ffriend

Kimani recently got a new trial in Serbia on an appeal of his original conviction. He has been on house arrest for the manslaughter charges described in a long article posted here a couple of years ago. At least he gets to remove the ankle bracelet he has been wearing for the past two years. Hopefully the retrial will overturn his conviction and we will get to see him back in Nebraska some day. We still have a large. framed photo of a grandson and him stored away somewhere.

  7. Gill & Roby are both top 50-100 types. Definitely both players are a good start to another great recruiting class.

  11. There has to be something there though. Most likely it is in the middle like most things end up being. No harm no foul Norm.

  12. C'on Norm; You know better 'n that! 'You're' is 'You Are.' 'Your' is the possessive. (But if it's a 7' Russian Beast say'n it, I'm not gonna argue!

  13. Here is a report from a Kansas State message board poster on Jeriah Horne: Saw Horne play in 2 and a half games on Saturday . . . it is very tough to categorize him as he is a versatile and multi-skilled player, I think that will serve him very well at the high major level. I do believe the 6'6" 220 measurements for him are accurate. When operating on the block he knocked down a few nice jump hooks out to about 7 ft and finished a couple reverse layups in heavy traffic. He does have a good faceup jumper and I saw him hit 3 3's on the day and when a defender crowds him on the perimeter (usually a big), he does have the ability to put the ball on the floor, get to the rim and finish. He's also got a nice feel and court vision for passing the ball, he plays unselfishly and looks for open teammates. He did try to force a few passes that just weren't there or he was a little off target, but overall, his good passing ability is an aspect of his game that I was glad to see. He is not a tremendously quick or explosive athlete, but when matched with opposing 4s and 5s (this is primarily what I saw him guard) he does a good of anticipating passes and getting into the passing lane, resulting in multiple deflections and steals. He is not afraid to get his hands dirty or throw his weight around in the paint, but I wouldn't necessarily say physical play is his bread and butter. However, I do have to say that I was very impressed with the way he attacked consensus 4* 6'9" 250 Tyler Cook in the title game. Cook absolutely owned the paint in the semis (34 pts), but Horne took it right at him in the post and got him in foul trouble, which really kept Cook a non-factor in that title game. Run GMC came up a little short against the St Louis Eagles, 60-53, but Horne battled hard, got to the line a lot, and finished with 16 pts.

    Blunt is in trouble

"The report, dated July 31 and heavily redacted in its release to the public" appears to me, school officials do have some concerns that they leave the option of a "settlement" open. will be interesting to see what the gals lawyer says after sifting through the investigation report.

  15. can we still get someone or is it pretty much official that we are going to leave it open and give it to a walk-on?

  16. Hampton is #126 so not sure where he comes in at top 60. also the new commit they got gives them their second in-state commit. Must be nice to have some local studs to pull from. Tony Carr is #53. It was a typo. I meant to say, Penn State adds another recruit, a top 60. Thanks.
