  1. Here is a recap--listened to the archived interview on Huskers.com (unfortunately, had to first wade through the depression-inducing postmortem on the final baseball game of the season): This is a good opportunity for him with really good things in place. Knew the Nebraska coaches because they travel in the same circles recruiting the same players. First contacts--calls from Coach Miles around the May 5-7 time frame. It happened pretty quickly from there. Coach Miles first came on his radar when Manhattan played Colorado St.--Miles team was well coached. Miles had a passion for the game and enthusiasm. Then Miles took Nebraska to the Tournament quickly. Then he took Nebraska to a new level in hiring Coach Hunter from an established program (editorial note: this seemed to be a very important factor in his evaluation of the situation) His first impressions from visiting here: facilities are off the chart, with great attention to every detail for the players, including nutrition and other factors. In talking with Coach Miles and others in charge of the program, he saw the vision as aligned with his own values. He's learned the players are hungry for success. He watched film from last season and believes a lot of pieces are in place. He is anxious to get the players into the gym and begin preparing for next year. His relationship with Miles is really good. Is impressed with Miles' passion for life and the game, his positive attitude and attention to detail. The whole staff, the City of Lincoln and the University have all been great to him. He believes he brings an understanding of what goes into a winning program. It's not an overnight deal but a multi-year process. He said Donovan is a great coach but a better person than coach. Building a winning program takes a focus on process every day--can't skip steps. It requires a humility that it's bigger-than-me. It starts with everyone working together. On recruiting, the goal is to be a national program, not a regional one. He has a broad background in the Midwest, East Coast and SEC area. We will look to get the best players from everywhere. We are fortunate to have a staff with a wide range of connections. He knows about the passion of the fans. Has seen on video the students' enthusiasm, and he knows that fan support is the number one thing. He is looking forward to the process of Nebraska moving to the next level.

  2. It's probably just because he's such a great fit for the system they run, Norm.

  3. That was about as fitting end to the season as you can get! This game summed up the second half our our season to a T. Blown chances and missed opportunities.

  5. Low risk, high reward. Why wouldn't we throw our hat in? We threw ours before they threw theirs. Nope. They offered in July of 2014

  7. Nothing earth shattering here. Talk of Pinder decommitting, there's nothing to suggest Dickserson has any interest, Burno wasn't brought just because he would bring a player or two, and Dickerson would've been a huge bonus. also talk about 4 of the 5 incoming guys being on campus this summer with the exception being McVeigh. Also a little about Petteway working out for the Mavericks.

  8. being realistic, the only reason we offered this kid was because we signed bakari and probably thought we should throw our hat in for that reason only.

  9. It's especially unfortunate in this situation that her last name is White. Very true. I'm sure context is important, but those quotes come off as if made by someone who might work at the cracker factory. And after work might go for drinks at a honkey-tonk.

I'm guessing his dad isn't named Richard, either.
