  1. 40% of D-1 players have transferred at some in their career in basketball. Its an unreal stat when comparing it to any other sport. Many factors play into this but a very large one is a player not being up to the level of play for the school they are at. Its a major reason I dont think you redshirt a player in basketball unless its a necessity because the cream tends to rise to the top in this sport and the lesser players get trimmed much faster as well. No reason to delay something a year to find out next year that they truly find out he isnt B1G caliber and essentially wasted a year to try and get him ready for it.

Check out this link to pictures of UNL basketball players. The kid that did them is a UNL student just starting a photography business. Really talented and creative. http://www.wynwileyphotoblog.com/2012/11/07/basketball/

Anyone who thinks the reaction was not good natured is nuts. I also think that the way Coach Miles handled the "pressure" was refreshing. Hey, the students wanted a free meal...perhaps Coach MIles will buy a few extra pizza's for the redzone before the Southern game

  4. The reasons to not redshirt him outweigh the reasons to redshirt him imo. 1. We will not have a center next year with any experience if we redshirt him 2. The depth this year, especially with Almeida always a question mark on health, means we need everyone we can at the position 3. Serge is a 4 year guy for Nebraska and you hope that by 2016 hes been a great asset and by then NU has gotten better and can upgrade to an even better player 4. It gives him an idea of what to expect in limited minutes and pushes him to become the main man for next year 5. (worst case scenario) We come to find out he isn't worth the scholarship and delaying the inevitable wastes a year someone else could have that scholly in a year or two

  6. The theme of the 2012-13 Husker season has to be "It don't come easy". We're probably looking at a lot of ugliness in Tim Miles first season, but I know Husker fans are looking past the warts of this season to the potential beauty of years to come. "Forget about the past and all your sorrow. The future won't last, It will soon be your tomorrow." Let's just get a win tonight and not worry about style points. I'm anxious to see how our returners have improved in the off-season. Too bad Shields is on the shelf for a couple weeks. GBR! I picked Ringo singing at the Concert for Bangla Desh because he forgot some of the lyrics. I have a feeling that's the way this season will go for the Huskers. (But after they screw up, they'll give you that loveable grin....)

I was there last night and there was a smattering of "Awww c'mon" when Miles signaled to Peltz not to try to score. Listening to the post-game broadcast, Jeff Culhane gets his nose bent out of joint basically accusing the fans of actually booing over not getting a Runza. Whether it was "booo" or "awww c'mon," it was delivered in jest and I think Miles clearly took it that way when he was smiling about it and continuing to signal not to score. No one -- I repeat NO ONE -- was seriously pissed off that we didn't try to score on that last possession in order to get Runzas. And the fact that Culhane jumped to that conclusion and jumped into "Mr. Superios, I'm going to lecture the fans" mode, was honestly a bit off-putting. Shut up, Jeff. You weren't there.

  8. Casual fans are the least of everyone's concerns right now, even with the new arena opening up. I agree with a lot of guys on here that we should be significantly better for the grand opening season, and that shuld help ease some attendance problems at the new house.

  9. At the risk of a hijack, that might be for a lot of fans, but I'd argue that the players themselves matter as well. Not comfortable with sacrificing some and saying they're not good enough to save while this one is. Coach obviously wouldn't if given his druthers. I wouldn't trust a coach that would think that instrumentally anyway. Anyhoo, my bad. Enough said on the grading thread. By the way, am I going to sty a post count newbie forever?

  10. Biggs' shooting was bad but he had some electrifying passes, a couple nice steals and he's pretty athletic. Defense needs some work. He got owned by Parrott in the first half with a jab step move from the wing that left Biggs holding his jock. But he seemed to rebound from that. Needs to work on his shooting. But he's there as an athlete and seemed to get more into the flow as the game went on. He'll be at the very worst a competent player for us and if he can improve his shot, he could be a scoring threat as well.

I applaud Coach Miles for not making fans suffer through that horrible food that causes indigestion, the runs, and many other things...I guess it could have been worse and got Vals pizza instead, and Norm I agree with you on the Jeff comments.
