Quick turn to the next one, so I'll start the postgame chatter.
Report reply Handy Johnson 3,732 Posted November 25, 2022 As I sat there watching the first half @ the Zoo Bar, I wondered what Fred’s last team at Nebraska will be known for…? Quote Share this comment
Report reply Huskerpapa 9,198 Posted November 25, 2022 The number of empty possessions, missed open looks and missed free throws was simply impossible to overcome. Sad as that was a winnable game. Quote Share this comment
Report reply basketballjones 3,479 Posted November 25, 2022 We need a new coach, fellas. A fresh start is desperately needed here. And I say this as someone who was a full Hoiberg believer and just could have never believed it would come to this. busticket, Handy Johnson, HB and 3 others 1 5 Quote Share this comment
Report reply Cazzie22 3,449 Posted November 25, 2022 We have such a difficult time scoring and running an offense. Maybe OU was really good on defense but I think it’s a struggle on offense. Quote Share this comment

Maybe OU was really good on defense but I think it’s a struggle on offense. A mismatch roster full of guys with poor basketball skill sets. Unbelievable that in year 4 we have this roster—not big, not athletic, and not skilled. Hard to believe you can be 0-3 in those categories. Culture and effort may be better than it’s been, but no way the talent level of this group can be successful at the Big 10 level. Granted, Hoiberg likely will handle it better than Frost would have but Hoiberg needs to go down with the ship. I’m not convinced he gets fired this year though. Even with how bad it’s going to be. I just don’t have faith that Trev will be eager to go thru another coaching change. Scheduled a 2 week Maui trip during camp season. Fred will handle it with class. His heart condition helps him put it in perspective. Fred is an incredible human being and I’d even say an incredible coach/basketball mind. But this just has not worked out for whatever reason(s). And honestly I feel TERRIBLE for him and the guys. Zero animosity or hate here, and I’m not the type to be calling for a dudes job - I feel like this is more of a putting someone out of their misery situation. He can guard opposing D1 guards and make an open three. He should have been given an honest look today. Should be interesting with Walker. basketballjones 1 Quote Share this comment

Couldn't agree more. 95% of D-1 coaches could've done better the past 3+ years that what we've gotten. He just doesn't have the willingness to grind to ever be successful here. Easily one of the two worst OU teams over the past 10+ years, and we were nowhere near good enough. And we had a million chances. 46 points over the final 36+ minutes. Ugh. Report reply FredsSlacks 1,102 Posted November 25, 2022 i swear coaches are just coming here to steal money at this point. lol literally anyone could have done what frost and hoiberg have done in their times here. basketballjones, Husker Hoops Penitent and throwback 1 2 Quote Share this comment
Report reply Navin R. Johnson 2,065 Posted November 25, 2022 I did like the effort. We never folded and worked our way back in it. Just not enough fire power on this team to fall behind early. The problem is I can see about every game shaping up like this one. Good effort but another loss could be our motto. basketballjones 1 Quote Share this comment
Report reply hhcscott 1,528 Posted November 25, 2022 The sequence where Griesel missed the free throw, Wilcher grabbed the rebound and immediately kicked the ball out of bounds pretty much sums up the Hoiberg era at Nebraska. Which means we will get to start watching it at the 13:46 mark in the first half after the game before goes OT. It's not ESPN'S fault, the 8th Amendment's prohibition against "cruel and unusual punishment" prevents them from broadcasting more than 30 minutes of this dumpster wreck train fire. basketballjones, Chuck Taylor and jimmykc 1 2 Quote Share this comment
Report reply tcp 2,859 Posted November 25, 2022 peeps here were laughing, as no one thought OU would be very good this year. I love my neighbors in this town, but it's kinda sad to see Okies here depressed that Nebraska has fallen on such hard times. Starts at the top: we had such a garbage run of ADs that downward was virtually guaranted. Here's hoping Trev can stop the bleeding. throwback 1 Quote Share this comment
