Petteway signs with the Atlanta Hawks

TP5 made the most of his playing time during the NBA summer league to score two year partially guaranteed contract with the Hawks. He will still need to compete to make the roster for a team in need of wing depth.

No matter what you may think of Mr. Barnes, this tweet is gold: ( especially w/ 'final 4' as the "FINAL FOUR" :D )

    And another, for good measure:

So at the very least Terran will make $87K this year between Hawks and D-League.  Thats not a horrible first year out of college.

Not to shabby...can you imagine poor Josh Smith trying to live off 87K though?

I believe that since Terran wasn't drafted he can sign a 10 day contract with any team at any time.

BTW, these are the teams that are affiliated with Fort Wayne (Charlotte Bobcats, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Memphis Grizzlies, Milwaukee Bucks, Orlando Magic)

Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm simply going off of bad memory...

Didn't Petteway have pre-draft workouts with Charlotte, Detroit, Atlanta, and L.A. Lakers? It looks like those align pretty well with the Ft. Wayne affiliates, so there might be some promise there.

From a guy who follows the D-League

I guess players are typically picked via a draft to start the season.

However, you are allowed to sign a guy who was cut from a team that doesn't have a D-League affiliate, which Atlanta does not.

That is correct. Bo Spencer was a first round D-League pick in 2013.

No offense to TP or the other posters in this thread, but I am sooooo looking forward to the day when there's enough current stuff to talk about that a thead about a former player's pro exploits drops off the first page.

It's long past time we had something new to talk about.

Maybe you guys can put some more YouTube videos of songs?  Those are always fun to scroll through.

Not to be contrary Norm  ;) , but in my eyes Terran is not only 'a former player.'  He was the first of 'a breath of fresh air' for the BB program in a long time; Rescued from the obscurity of 'bench-warming' at his former school, he became the top scorer in the league his first year, and the sparkplug getting us to the Dance.  He's now part of Husker Lore. mfclap.gif

I understand your sentiment; In keeping with that, I hope TP is just the First of many to come, for us to talk about and revel in their exploits.  wave.gif

It's not that.  I agree with what you say.  I just can't wait to be able to talk about something else.  I can't wait until there's something more to talk about.  I can't wait until there's new stuff that drops whatever it is we've been talking about the last few months to at least the 2nd page of the board.

Over the summer, the front page of the main board became like a Top 40s radio station that wants to play the same songs hour after hour after hour.  At the beginning of the summer, you might have liked whatever the song was, but by the end of the summer, you hear that song come on and you change the station.

I'm ready for them to play something else.
