Bolt is absolutely in the tank. With the lack of talent throughout the lineup, you can't have your best guy (since Schreiber is out) be in a massive slump at year end. Sad to see him end his Husker career this way.

The season is not over my friend.

It will be soon, and my point is the same.

Not that it will happen but... I could see Bolt drop so low in the draft that he comes back.

He will drop some, but not so much that he doesn't go.  Pro teams won't abandon him due to a hitting slump.

Went out with a whimper.   Never should have been in the tournament, and it showed.

Haven't seen a team hit into 5 double plays for a while.

welp... 4 and close the door on the season. Made the tournament, that is a plus. Deserved to be there... just wish we had a better showing when we got there.

I agree. Just picked a bad time for the bats to go very silent. I don't think we had an extra base hit in Clemson. That's not going to do much for you. At least they got some valuable experience for some players.

Did we have an extra base hit in Omaha?

4 runs in the last 36 innings...can't make that up. Expectations need to be ramped up for the program going forward...first five under Erstad has not produced great results. Time to take the next step next year

11 runs in 60 innings. We do have some talented young pitching. That's a great place to start. Now, just need to hope we don't lose some key players in the draft. I think we should expect conference titles and NCAA tourney bids every year. I do think we are headed in the right direction. We only finished a 1/2 game out of 1st in the Big 10.

Is it me or is just hard to be a Husker fan in a lot of sports now? Except for volleyball, we make it to a fairly high level then kind of pee it down our legs.

Oh well will be back next year and hoping we can due a bit better.

Yeah but at least we have eradicated vampires and have some people on the energy bus!

We need to recruit bigger, stronger players IMO.  Every recruit needs to have some pop or a lot of speed for his position.  Too many "grinder" types being recruited.  Teach the better athletes to be scrappy players, rather than recruit scrappy players.  A bigger kid can play second base just fine, for example.  Recruit bigger guys that are good athletes and then figure out how best to use them when they are here.  It is sort of along the lines of when we got good in football.  We basically were recruiting a level of speed up at each position.  Safeties to be linebackers etc.  Similar concept here.  Time to recruit better, more threatening athletes.  You can teach them to play baseball better.  You cannot teach good high school baseball player to be a better athlete though.

If I were to recruit, I would certainly look at offensive players who can drive the ball.  At the very least they need strong gap power.  Yet defense is also key.  You build strong defense up the middle, but that doesn't mean those strong players shouldn't be great hitters.  Most HS teams will have their "best athletes" in the middle four positions.  I am not sure why that can't happen here.

Boldt goes early.    12th pick of the second.  Rays.  Didn't think he would go that high, but certainly thought he would go high enough that he would be gone.

The Ray's identified the "it' factor in Boldt.  The kid has the tools and quite frankly, I believe he was sort of pitched around this year.  He appeared to have pressed more than a little bit.  The kid has the tools, and historically, the Ray's have drafted well.  I anticipate Mr. Boldt will have a pretty decent career.
